Orono High School Soccer History It was the summer of ’78. A group of parents had been coaching their kids in the fairly newly formed state run summer soccer program. Their kids where about to enter into High School, so they asked the Athletic Department if soccer could begin as a club sport. Athletic Director Leo Goslan ran a “help wanted” ad in the local newspaper. He was flooded with applications – 2 actually – from Lowell Seashore and Brad “Cookie” Carlson, a couple of Orono grads. Lowell was the manager of the MPFC in Maple Plain. Brad was his assistant at MPFC. Lowell, having played soccer in college at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, became the head coach. Brad, with no soccer experience but plenty of athletic experience, became the assistant. And so, Orono High School Soccer was born. 1978 Record 6-8-3.
