L & T INFOTECH PAPER ON 23rd JANUARY AT GHAZIABAD
Hello frnds
Myself Ankita Srivastava , student of B.TECH 3rd year (I.T.) ,IMSEC Ghaziabad. L&T Infotech
visited our college on 23 jan, 2008 . Only students having 60% throughout tenth, twelth and b.tech and
maximum 4 backlogs that 2 cleared in next attempt were eligible 4 L&T Infotech. Five colleges were
there namely IMSEC, AKG, RKGIT, HRIT and SGIT. Approximately 1200 students Appeared 4 the
written xam. Around 200+ cleared the written. 63 were frm IMS .
There were four rounds namely:
1. written
2. extempore
3. technical round
4. hr interview
There were 3 sets and dat too totally different. They were white, pink and yellow in colour. I got pink
one. I must tell u dat
Around 8-10 questions were from previous years. Apti was easy, verbal n non verbal was also easy and
English was vry Easy. Many of my frnds prepared 4 english also but frankly speaking I paid attention
only 4 apti n verbal , non verbal while I Was preparing 4 placements. But if u r frm U.P. Board then
work 4 english 2.there were 30 questions in each section namely aptitude, verbal non verbal n english .
there was sectional cutoff also. I think it was 20-22.few questions I remember are as follows:
APTITUDE
1. bus was travelling at distance of 60 mt before car in car 20 sec. car is ahead of bus by 40 mts . if car
was traveling at speed of 30km/hr then wat is speed of bus?
ANSWER is 20m/sec
2. three men can dig 3 trenches in 5 days.then how many persons are required to dig five trenches in 5
days( working 8 hrs per day).
3. two questions on a.p.
4. the average of 6 numbers is 8. average of 8 numbers is 6 . then wat is the average of the two numbers
which are added later to the series.
ANSWER: 0
5. I exactly don’t remember d question .one question on evaluation like
1.175*1.175+ 2345*14563/ 2345.87
6. I exactly don’t remember d question .one question on finding value of x like:
X* 25/89=45/87
7. one more question on evaluation was there.
8. one question on the problem of ages.
9. one question on heights n distances. Like angle of elevation is given n length of shadow is given .
find height of tree.
10. one question on alligation n mixture.
11. one question on profit n loss
12. one question on probability
13. one question like cost of 5 apples and 2 oranges is given. Price of 7 apples n 8 oranges is given then
find price of three apples.
14. one question on %
15 one question on ratio n proportion
16. one question on pipes n cisterns
17. in a km race , A beats B by 28 kms or 7 sec. find A’s time over the course .
ANSWER: 4 min 3 sec
18. one question on permutation n combination.
19. one question on line graph.
20. one question was like a number when divided by 5 and 7 gives remainder 1 and 3 resp. find the
number.
VERBAL AND NON VERBAL
I exactly don’t remember the questions. Some of them are:
2 questions on statement and conclusion based on syllogism.
2 questions on analytical reasoning.
Question on blood relations. I exactly don’t remember d question.
Question on mixed letter coding like “tu ka tee.” is “rohan…black” and “ kee ta..” is “ moha ..brown” n
one more code was given.then wat does ka stands 4?
3 questions on coded relations.. like question 7 of exercise 5C page 238 r.s aggarwal
One question was like in a race B is in 2nd position . C is always ahead of A ……….. question was frm
puzzle test.
Question 11 of Exercise 9A page 348 of logical venn diagram of r.s aggarwal.
Question 30 of Exercise 9A page 350 of logical venn diagram of r.s aggarwal
2 questions on alphabet test like ENYTRET . find the number of N which r followed by N and not
preceded by R.
Questions on series were also there.
ENGLISH
There was one paragraph which was vry easy. I will suggest u not 2 read the whole passage instead go
through the questions and then find answer frm the passage. There were questions on finding errors.
Questions on find appropriate phrase to replace the already given phrase in the sentence.
5 synonyms were asked like CRYPTIC, SANGUIN, FAUX PAS……..
Questions on analogy.
EXTEMPORE:
Second round was extempore round
The HR person asked us to speak on any subject of our curriculum or a little beyond it
The topic should not be reapeated. There was 3 min time 2 think and 1 min to speak.
When my name was called I spoke on automobile engineering . as I thought dat today’s latest news is
NANO n I thought To relate NANO wid automobile engg. i was speaking abt automobile n then nano
then the HR person stopped me n asked to change the topic. Then afterwards I spoke abt E.Commerce
n then 2 he stopped me after 20 sec. I was shocked dat he was listening 2 everybody’s topic for 1 min n
why he stopped me after 20 sec. I must say dat they only see ur ways of expressing ur thoughts n way
of standing. Ur confidence is checked. As I was asked 2 change d topic n then 2 I was confident wid
my 2nd topic also . I spoke wid full confidence but I was vry afraid of being eliminated as he asked me
to sit just after 20sec. but I was selected for next round. I must also tell u the topics wat other persons
spoke abt. They were BLUETOOTH, INTERNET,ZERO, MICROPROCESSOR, COMPILER etc.
Then they asked the selected candidates to fill up their form. I should be vry clear here 2 all of u . u
should fill up the form very carefully because they see evryhing u hav mentioned in the form like ur
objective, strengths, weakness, achievements, academics, why L&T etc
TECHNICAL ROUND.
The third round was technical round. We were asked to take our cv alongwid the form wid us. A person
from Chennai was there to check our technical skills. We went in a group of 6. he took my cv n asked
me to choose one subject apart frm C, JAVA, DBMS. I said I will go for SE then he asked me to tell
any conceptual subject. Then I said I will go for OOPS as I m an IT student. He gave me A4 sheet.
He asked me to explain abt constructor and write a program using constructor
He asked me to abt deconstructor and its logical expression.
He then asked abt function overloading and asked to write a program using it and also explain the
memory allocation and how the compiler will understand to call which function .
He then asked me abt recursive function n asked me to write a function using recursion
He then asked me to write a factorial program n then asked its terminating condition.
I well answered and wrote all the programs he asked me to write.
Then he asked me why L&T Infotech?
I answered it .
Then he asked all of us a puzzle it was like there are 6 balls among those 5 hav same weight and 1 is
having a little more weight than a single ball. In how many ways we can determine that heavier ball?
He said its our homework.
I should tell u dat there was another person of their company who was asking the candidates to speak
on their extempore topic 4 abt 5 min n then he was asking questions regarding it. So some of us gave
totally technical round and some like dis one.
HR INTERVIEW
Then the selected candidates were allowed to give HR interview. The lady was taking HR interview.
When I went to interview room she was on phone I entered n she asked me to sit. I wished her gud
evening.Meanwhile she was talking on phone she gave me one question like:
Q.1/5, 0, 1, -2, 9, -38, 101,_ ,_ . fill the next two numbers.
I tried 4 it but I was not getting any pattern then after trying a lot I said mam I m not getting the pattern
Q.Then she asked me question on Roman numbers like she gave question on finding the value .
I answered it.
Q. so ankita u hav written Mumbai for posting. In case I send u 2 chennai then will u go?
A . ya , sure mam I will definitely go to Chennai
Q. U hav mentioned Mumbai here
A. yes mam , bcoz the head office of L&T infotech is in Mumbai dats why I opted 4 Mumbai.
Q. so ankita tell me abt urself.
A. I started giving my introduction. When I said I m pursuing B.Tech frm IMS engineering college and
moved to my father’s name then she interrupted me and said so u r talking abt IMS EC, Ghaziabad.
Then I smiled n said yes mam I m talking abt IMSEC, Ghaziabad. Then when I was telling my father’s
name then again she interrupted n said so u r talking abt dis college
Then I smiled n said yes mam I m talking abt dis college. Actually she was chcking my patience. So b
cool n confident n always hav smile on ur face.
Q. so ankita wat is ur rank in ur class
A. I answered it.
Q. ankita tell me five qualities to b a gud reader.
A. I answered concentration, deep knowledge I mean one should not go to the literal meanings of the
word instead one should hav deep knowledge of it, good selector of books
Q. then she asked how good selector of books?
A. I answered that there are plenty of books regarding any topic so it’s the reader who will decide to go
4 which buk which will be appropriate 4 him.
Q. Then she asked ankita do u hav reading habit?
A. I answered mam previously I was so busy wid my course books dat I hardly read any extra book but
now I m having interst in reading buks other than subject books. recently I hav read a 5.SUMONE
Q. then she asked me to narrate it
A. I narrated it to her.
Then she said NICE ANKITA

he said same here n I moved out of rum
Our final result was announced on 28 jan , 2008 and finally I was selected n I was at the top of the
world at dat time.Finally 51 students were selected. 12 frm IMS , 2 frm HRIT, 1 frm SGIT, 29 from
AKG and 7 frm RKGIT.i should tell u dat they only see ur patience, confidence n way of answering the
questions at the time of HR round. Although I was unable to answer the 1st question which was on
series then 2 I was selected its just bcoz I tried 4 it n was vry confident wid other questions n I well
answered other questions n was not nervous when I was unable to get a pattern in question. So b
confident n cool n hav patience. I would like to thank god, my mom, dad, bro , teachers n my friends
who were always there to support me n encourage me. Frnds its all ur destiny n hard work.There were
many deserving candidates who not even cleared the written xam also so always b positive n hav faith
on ur hard work n GOD.

atbbdit,ghajiabad and got selected finally. There were students from 4 colleges n were about 450.
Around90 students were selected for HR and tecnical interviewfinally around11 got selected.

ForApti go through rs aggarwal, the imp chapters well, that’s enough but do them thoroughly.

hey friends ... THIS IS DIXIT MANNAN...currently studying In BCET gurdaspur doing ECE(6th
sem)and placed in L&T infotech... for all those people who r preparing for L&t infotech... i think this
information will b helpful for u... it was 21st of jan when i went for my first placement exam..it was
sant baba bhag singh college of jalandhar...the reporting time was 10 am...and the exam started at about
12...
Round 1: written Aptitude exam...
TOTAL STUDENTS APPEARED : 1000+
SHORT LISTED : 190 in written aptitude there were 3 sections....
Section A : it was quantitative aptitude test...there were 30 questions...i think R.S. Aggarwal is more
than enough for the test...this part was quiet easy. the important chapters of RS aggarwal for this part
are: NUMBERS,TIME AND DISTANCE,PROBABILITY,P&C,BOATS & STREAMS,PROBLEMS
ON TRAINS,AVERAGE,RATIO PROPORTION AND GRAPHS AND PIE CHARTS... these topics
are more than enough to clear the quantitative...LET ME CLEAR THIS POINT THAT TIME
MANAGEMENT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING..
Section B: this part was verbal non- verbal reasoning...this part was very confusing...in earlier exams i
saw there were some similar type of ques. like if there is ODD MAN OUT then there will b 5 ques.
under that topic...but in our exam i saw all the ques. were of different type...so prepare well for dis
part...cover all types from the book... I THINK THIS PORTION MADE THE DIFFERENCE...SO
COVER ALL THE TYPES ...
Section C : this portion was English...english was also easy...i think anybody who has cleared 12th
exam in english medium can do it,,,only challenging part was Antonyms and Synonyms. the words
were like totally unknown...prepare for antonyms and synonyms...IN THE END THERE WAS A
PASSAGE...I WAS ALSO OK.. I HAVNT FOLLOWED ANY BOOK FOR ENGLISH... I THINK
THERE IS NO NEED ...JUS GO FOR QUANT AND VERBAL NON VERBAL... THE TRICK FOR
DOING APTI IS GO FOR THE QUES. WHICH HAV MULTIPLE PARTS...LIKE FOR ONE
PASSAGE U HAVE 5 QUES. OR SOME OTHER TYPE...
we had TOTAL OF90 QUES. AND 90 MINS TO SOLVE THEM...12 TO 1:30..TIME
MANAGEMENT IS VERY IMP. DONT JUS GET STUCK TO ONE PART ONLY..FIRST TRY TO
ATTEMPT 20-20 QUES OF EACH PART AS THERE WAS SECTIONAL CUT-OFF...SO BE
CAREFUL ABT TIME SO I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT I WAS AMONG THOSE 190
ROUND 2: GROUP DISCUSSION...
AT ABOUT 6:30 the result for apti was announced...the different groups for GD were announced..i was
in 16th group...i was very much affraid of GD but my suggestion will b "Be casual.." Just b urself...they
r jus luking for Confidence and team work..dont overpower anybody..jus b cool and calm...give ur
points at equal intervals...dont try to b oversmart... Topics were very...jus go thru the current
affairs,,,like benazir bhutto,Nano car, india aussie cricket match ets...my topic was India australia
sydney test...so i was quiet confident... use SIMPLE ENGLISH...no need to go for hard words,,,be
polite and mannered...it was for 15 mins...at about 9:30 pm we were given the result of gd and forms
were distributed... that form was like resume...it required ur overall performance...about ur
family,school,college...all semesters...extra cullicular acivities etc etc..fill tht form carefully..it shoul
match ur resume.. out of 190 students 100 were shortlisted for interview next day...
ROUND 3 : INTERVIEW...
i came back home as i belong to jalandhar...it was a long long night,,,i was really very tense..coz after
clearing those two rounds nobody wants to lose...i woke upat 5 in morning... studied some basics of
C++ and java and assembly language prog....i reached there at 10 and interviews started at about
10:30...and my name was at 3rd in the list for inteview.. i was really very nervous for interview... it was
the final time now..

There were 3 sets of papers & everything was professionally managed.

All are really simple & basic problems. Concentrate more on fundamentals
1) A red light glows every 10sec, yellow every 15sec and red every 18sec.find the number of times all
three glow together from 8:00AM To 9:00AM (including both times)?
2) If age of a person is x and his mothers age is 34. then after how many years will the mothers age be
twice of the son?
3) Three problem on Arithmetic progression and geometric progression.
4) One on mean.
5) Matrix addition?
6) Find the determinant of a 3*3 matrix?
7) A man buys two watches at Rs.540. He sells one watch at 10% profitand other at 15% loss. He didn’t
gain any profit or loss. What wasthe cost of the watch.
8) Value of diesel is 5.40 and petrol is 4.20. if petrol valueIncreases with 40% per week after how many
week wil it overcome the Value of Diesel.
9) 5 questions were on bar graph. Very simple ones.
10) If a can give b a lead start of 10 meters and c a lead start of 17 meters how much lead start can b
give to c.
11) If average of three innings of a is 75. and the average score of First two innings is 75% then how
much did he score in the third Inning?
12) no. divide by 5 & 7 gives remainder 3 & 7. if same no. is dividedby 35 then what is the remainder?
13) (72+70+68+_ _ _ +40) =?
14) Three taps A and B can fill up a tank in 10 min,15 mins and 21Mins respectively. They are opened
together and after 4 mins A is closed.In how much time Band C will fill up the remaining part?

Reading passage (5 questions): easy to score atleast 4 marks out of 5 by reading questions and coming
to passage to search answer also less time consuming.
Reasoning: It was the simplest part I found in the whole paper. There were questions related to
1) A puzzle of 8 friends 4 girls and 4 boys who have to be placed on 4 bikes. And different conditions
were given.
2) Another puzzle where five band member were present i.e. ram, Mohan, shyam, ravi, suresh and five
instruments like guitar, violin, tabla,sitar,paino. Few conditions like a) ram can only sitar. B) mohan can
play all the instruments. C) shyam can only play piano or guitar. D) ravi can only play piano. Four
questions related to it were given.
3) Four question on figure reasoning.like sets of figures(SHAPES ) ARE GIVEN .EACH SET
HAVING THREE FIGURES LAST SHAPE OF THIRD SET Will be missing and you HAVE TO
IDENTIFY it BY CHECKING OTHER COMBINATIONS

GD/Extempore
There were 4 panels in which GD/Extempore is distributed. as there r various topics running from
which some are
Global warming
Brain drain
Growth of it in India
reservation system in india .
BPOs in INDIA
For this section just speak what ever u know about that topic u have a chance as their selection rate per
group is very higher around 10 out of 15 students. Every one is given chance. If the HR doesn’t like the
performance in gd he can go for Extempore. In some cases only extempore was conducted.
HR/Tech interview
For hr part prepare the basic simple questions like About yourself?
why L & T?
After 5 years where you think to stand in organization?
problem is on teamwork or coordination?
why l & t hire u?
questions on projects you mentioned in that?
Tech part prepare c language, basic difference in java, c++,c# .
DBMS( normalization and triggering).
Why c++ is called c++ and not c+?
If you have unix background as I had then what is kernel, shell and wat is shell 32?
That’s all I can remember.

hi friends, on 23rd january 2008 i sat for my 1st company lnt infotech..
type was pool campus
No. of aspirants=1500+
written qualified=200+
extempory= aroun100
and finally interview=around 50
result awaited
1st Round.
it was basically writtrn round.... the paper had 3 sections quanti, logical reasoning and english. there
were 3 sets white, pink and yellow. each section of each set consisted 30 questions. and for qualifying
sessional cut of was 20 to 22.
the question was basically fron r.s. agrawal.. and most of the questions were repeated which i saw from
freshers world.
I remember 1st quewstion was
Q. a man can do a work in 5days and 8 hours.then how many mens r required to do the same work 3
times in a day. working hours in each day is 8hr.
ans. 18
This was very simple.Just study R.S Aggarwal Quantitative aptitude book.Topics like
Numbers(arithmatic progression,geometric progression formulae like Tn and Sn)

Problems on Ages
Percentage
Profit and loss

A littleeasy but go through the entire Logical Reasoning section in R.S.Aggarwal Verbal & Non-verbal
book and you are through.Topics like Statement Conclusion
Deriving Conclusions from passages
Deriving conclusion from 9 rules
Blood relations
Puzzle test
Arithmatic reasoning
logical venn diagrams(very easy . one was musician , insrumentalist and violinist. and i do not
remember othr)
Unscramble the words and find odd man out
the quetions are all from book. itself....
Verbal:
Very easy section hence attempt it first.Questions like Synonyms
Fill in the blanks with appropriate word
A sentence is given with some words in bold.you have to replace it with a best match from the options
A part of the sentence is underlined. you have to replace it with the part in the options which makes
correct grammatical and logical sense
Four sentences are given.you have arrange them in logical order
A very big passage but don't get intimidated its damm easy just read the questions first and then quickly
scan the passage.
i hope the passage is the easiest one so first do that....
2nd round.
it was extempory We had to speak on the technical subjects of our own........... out of 40 from aech
group 9 were selected...but ratio increased in case of girls. only 6 were rejected out of 40.
Profile Interview:
Before giving theinterview you will have to fill a form which is just like your resume You have to
mention your scholastic, extra curricular achievements ,strengths and weaknesses and so on.Remember
what you are writing on the form because questions will definitely be asked on it.
Please study for technical its really a dificult one. read everything. any thing could be asked...
