PARAFLEX Series Product description Elastomeric bitumen-polymer (SBS) waterproofing membranes. The prefabricated PARAFLEX Series membrane range includes: PARAFLEX NT (black, continuous polyester thread, non-woven textile reinforcing, thickness 3 – 4 mm); PARAFLEX ARD N (slate flake finish on upper surface, strengthened glass-wool reinforcing, weight 3.5 kg/m2; PARAFLEX W (black, strengthened glass-wool reinforcing, weight 3 – 4 kg/m2; PARAFLEX ARD/HS (slate flake finish on upper surface, continuous polyester thread, non-textile textile reinforcing, thickness 4 mm excluding slate); PARAFLEX ARD/S (slate flake finish on upper surface, continuous polyester thread, non-woven textile reinforcing, weight 4.5 kg/m2). The specific formulation of the Elastomeric bitumen-polymer compound ensures good mechanical performance, flexibility at low temperatures (-25 °C) fatigue resistance and an ultimate elongation for the compound in excess of 1500%. Certification Agrément ICITE: PARAFLEX NT4 – PARAFLEX ARD/HS, PARAFLEX W3 + PARAFLEX ARD/S SYSTEM Fields of use The PARAFLEX Series is recommended for: Waterproofing in areas with a rigid climate or installation during cold seasons; Waterproofing of light, prefabricated, elastic structures subject to considerable expansion: metal roofing, suspended roofing, prefabricated reinforced concrete roofing; Waterproofing of “inverted” roofs, under thermo-insulation elements; General waterproofing purposes. PARAFLEX Series membranes should be installed using a propane gas torch and joints between panels shoulds allow an overlap of 8 – 10 cm for lateral joints and 12 – 15 cm for haed joints.Elastomeric bitumen-polyester compounds have a low resistance to UV rays and therefore PARAFLEX Series membranes should always be used in the design and installation of waterproofing systems. In order to obtain correct, detailed information or to determine the most appropriate solution for each specific case we would advise you to consult our technical publication “Waterproofing membranes: General guidelines for installation” (Quaderno 7) and the Dataquad CD Rom. The Technical Service Department at Imper Italia S.p.A. is in event willing to study specific solutions, apart from providing all the necessary for making the best possible use of these materials. Notes (1) Unless otherwise specified all values and tolerances have been determined in accordance with UNI 8202 standards and UEAtc General Directives as regards SBS bitumen-polymer membranes. (2) On request: green, red, brown, white and black. As these are natural products there may be colour differences as a result of surface orientation of the flakes and normal pigmentation tolerances. Considering the various situations in which this product may be used and the effect of factors outside our control (substrates, operating conditions, failure to follow instructions, etc.), Imper Italia S.p.A. cannot be held responsible for the results obtained. Future developments together with continuing research to determine maximum performance levels may result - in the course of time - in changes to information given in these specifications. However, Imper Italia S.p.A. is under no obligation to advise all interested parties in advance of such changes.
