BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEETING and CONFERENCE CALL
MINUTES
Present:
Jennifer Embree, President; Diana Sullivan, Vice President, Michael Fights, Treasurer;
Cindy Stone, Director, Vicki Johnson, Director (joined at 9:45 am), Heather SavageMaierle, Graduate Director; Shannon Love, Student and Guest of Jennifer Embree, Gingy
Harshey-Meade, Chief Executive Officer; Blayne Miley, Director Policy and Advocacy;
and Marla Holbrook, Office Manager.
Absent with Notice: Mary Cisco, Secretary, and Monica Weissling, Director

CALL TO ORDER: President Embree called the meeting to order at 9:30 am
A quorum was established and the consent agenda was approved.
Jennifer Embree, President, introduced Shannon Love; each member introduced
themselves
Marla Holbrook was appointed Secretary pro temp.

Legislative Task Force – Blayne Miley
1. 33 liaisons, legislative conferences added 2
2. Task Force Alerts were sent out on the following bills:
a. HB 1518 Impaired Nurse Account
b. SB 268 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists
c. HB 1135 Non-nurse Midwives
d. HB 1001 Elimination of Nurse Scholarship Program
3. 2013 Legislative Conferences:
a. Feb. 13: 55 attendees
b. Mar. 6: 50 attendees
c. Mar. 13: 40 attendees
d. 2012 attendance was 73 for Policy 101 & 41 for Advanced (114 total)
e. PAC raised $1,315
4. ISNAbler sent out weekly

Motion: Use Core Values instead of Pillars as: Unity, Advocacy,
Professionalism, and Leadership

Non-Dues Revenues – Gingy Harshey-Meade

Malpractice Insurance
Motion: To explore non-dues revenue and let Gingy due the RFP and make the
choices which make ISNA the most money and is consistent with
ISNA’s Mission..

Congratulations to Ernest Klein with his appointments to ANA
Committees.
B.
Executive Committee Meeting – Gingy Harshey-Meade, Chief Executive Officer.
Motion: Move Blayne Miley to full time effective April 1, 2013.
Action: Motion Passed.
C.
President of the Philippine nurses approached Diana Sullivan about duplication of
testing for RN’s for their license to practice in Indiana and asked for ISNA’s help
change this practice.
Motion: Move for Blayne to discuss with Board of Nursing about making
their testing acceptable in Indiana.
Action: Motion Passed
D.
ANA Delegation from ISNA: Jennifer Embree, President; Diana Sullivan, Vice
President, and Barb Kelly, Past President, Alternate; and Heather SavageMaierle, Graduate Director
