Les nouvelles de la classe de Mme Faltesek, Room 1204 Week 14: December 7 – December 11 Theme(s) of the Week Winter Festival Celebration Les fêtes dans le monde en hiver (Winter Festivals Around the World) On Tuesday, December 22, we will be having a Winter Festival celebration in class from 2:30 3:45pm. There will be crafts, games and a special snack set up at tables around the room supervised by parent volunteers. There are still a few items we need for the party. Reading: We will begin our unit on winter festivals around the world. This week, we will “visit” the Netherlands for St Nicholas Day, Sweden for St Lucy’s Day, India for Diwali, and Senegal for Ramadan. Each day, we will create a new page for our Winter Festival books that students will take home for break. Math: We will practice addition, compare numbers, play number card games, level items on a balance, and explore probability. Language: We will be making a list of French words that start with Ii. Writing: We will work on finding I in texts, naming & drawing Ii words, and writing Ii. Social Studies: We will explore maps and globes and talk about different countries and customs.
