Jingle Clubs
By Jeanne Kangas
2011 EWGA Worcester End of Season Party
Dashing to the Club
In a high horsepower car
Along the roads we fly
Laughing all the way
Horns on Smart Cars ring
Making us feel bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A golfing song tonight.
On, jingle clubs, jangle clubs
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to play
In my golfing league today.
Jingle clubs, jangle clubs
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to play
In my golfing league today.
A week or two ago
I thought we’d score real low
And soon Ms. Nikki Brown
Was playing at my side
Her swing was fun and long
The ball took of like smoke
It hit the flag and tumbled down
Into the hole. No joke!
Oh, jingle clubs, jangle clubs
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to play
In my golfing league today.
Jingle clubs, jangle clubs
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to play
In my golfing league today. Yeah!
Ode to the Front Nine
By Paulette Goeden
Hole 1 is a breeze
Just put the ball on a tee
Hit a drive out straight
On the green in two is all it takes
Hole 2 is a dog with a sharp left
One long T-shot would be a good bet
Loft your ball with your hybrid avoiding the trap
Because in front of you lies all the crap
Hole 3 is grueling yard after yard
Without your fairway woods, it is hard
Topping the ball prior to the bend
You could find yourself logging a 10
Hole 4 one would say is narrow
No carts allowed because they will roll like a barrel
We all wish you a bundle of luck
If your second shot lands in the guck
Hole 5 has a significant incline
Excellent for firming up our behinds
With a vision ahead of the flag at the summit
Avoid a slice to the left or into the lake you will plummet
Hole 6 is short
With Mr. Woodchuck holding court
We all wish for par in three
But impossible if you ricochet off a tree
Hole 7 provides you a valley
So a short tee shot will increase your tally
A miss hit iron does not improve your lay
As you view in the distance the green fairway
Hole 8 is a decline
If you hit your tee shot in line
A proper second hit as you lie on the knoll
Will guarantee to the green you will roll
Hole 9 we end up playing the links
As our score is close to (or over?) the brink
We decide not to play the back nine
Because it’s time to drink, whine and dine!
Red Tail Song – 2009
End of Season Party
By Jeanne Kangas, Esq.
Red Tail, Red Tail, give me a break, please do.
I’m half crazy, all for a Par or two.
It WILL be a stylish score card,
And with your help I’ll hit hard. And I’ll look sweet
If you will treat
Me to a Par or two.
Par 3 Ditty Song
By Jeanne Knagas, Esq.
(Sung to the tune of “Take me out to the Ball Game”)
Take me out to the Par 3 course.
Take me out to the tee.
Show me the grip, swing and club I need.
Soon I’ll be hitting like Sammy Snead!
For it’s one, two, three strokes
I’m IN.
In the Par 3 game!
Ode to Hole One:
Fall
By Nikki Brown
(Could be sung to “Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother’s House We Go”)
Over the bunker and under some leaves,
The little golf ball spun.
She shivered and prayed, remembering days
In the fairway under the sun.
OHHHH
Look, here’s the shoes, they’re white and they’re blue;
“She’ll see me, I know that she will.”
But the shoes walked away, put a new ball in play,
And our little one lies on hole one.
