before being declared to race again.
When questioned regarding the performance of CONCRESCENCE, Jockey O Chavez
stated that he was instructed to get a good jump, sit in 6th/7th/8th position depending on the
pace. He said that after jumping and running to the winning post on the first occasion, he
was racing 6 wide when the leading division set a strong tempo. He said that he elected
to ease back as opposed to going forward and covering extra ground, as
CONCRESCENCE would race too keenly and not finish its race off. He stated that near
the 1000M, he felt CONCRESCENCE commenced to have difficulties in holding his
position and passing the 800M, where he commenced to place CONCRESCENCE under
pressure, the gelding failed to respond as expected and commenced to give ground. He
added that CONCRESCENCE’s effort today was disappointing. His explanation was
noted.
Trainer R Lines confirmed the instructions and stated that CONCRESCENCE may not
have backed up after its last start win on 21st December 2013 in Penang over 1700M and
was disappointing. He further stated that it was his intention to give CONCRESCENCE
a spell after this run. Trainer R Lines was advised that if he detects any abnormality with
the gelding after cooling down, he would be expected to report this to the Stewards.
CONCRESCENCE was impounded. A post-race veterinary examination of
