The scholarships are awarded as follows: Qualifications for three (03) scholarships for Masters student of the academic year 2014-15 (granted for six months) 1. Students who have secured CGPA 3.0 in BSS examination. 2.Students who have taken the courses of Environmental Archaeology (Geoarchaeology and Bioarchaeology), Practical for Environmental Archaeology and Archaeometallurgy in his/her M.S.S study plan will get preference. Encl: Guidelines for granting scholarships of ‘HEQEP 3419: Postgraduate and Doctoral Scholarship’ 1 HEQEP 3419: Postgraduate and Doctoral Scholarship Guidelines Applicable to the students of Masters Degree The main objective of the HEQEP 3419 Project is to enhance the research capabilities of postgraduate students through active engagement with the fieldwork in reference to Northwestern Part of Bangladesh. Keeping the main objective in mind, the eligibility criteria for the applications are as follows: 1. Any student who has secured CGPA 3.0 will be eligible for applying for scholarship 2. The applicants who have taken the courses of Environmental Archaeology (Geoarchaeology and Bioarchaeology), Practical for Environmental Archaeology and Archaeometallurgy will get preference in the selection 3. If thesis is offered by the department or any student takes thesis as their course work, and if she/he conducts her/his thesis on fieldwork and related topic in North-western part of Bangladesh, she/he will get preference as grantee. 4. To keep in coordination with the objectives of the project, the applicants must show their financial constraints regarding pursuing of her/his academic and related activities. 5. In coordination with the objectives, activities and work plan of the project, the students must express their interest and motivation in participating in different stages of the fieldwork related activities (pre-field work, fieldwork and postfieldwork). They have to participate actively in the activities and express interest and eagerness to enhance their research capabilities by engaging themselves actively in the above mentioned activities. Submission of application would automatically be considered as the expression of interest and eagerness for the aforementioned involvement. 6. Every scholarship holder student has to submit a quarterly activity report in English elaborating in detail their activities and progress in study and training. 7. They have to include a detailed financial expenditure report along with the progress report. 8. Every scholarship holder has to submit a final report in the prescribed format in English elaborating upon their activities and outcome of the financial support they have obtained. 9. If any student gets the grant and fail to show enough activity and progress in his/her research, the relevant committee will have every power to cancel or modify his/her allocation. 10. Each scholarship holder will need to sign an agreement on 300 taka stamp with 2 witnesses and one guarantor (who must be the faculty members of Jahangirnagar University). 11. To apply for the grants, a student is required to submit the following: a. Application with CV, specifically elaborating upon her/his experience in fieldwork and post fieldwork activities (in English). b. Three attested recent passport size photographs c. A motivation letter describing her/his future research interest, aspirations, expression of motivations (in English) (within 500 words maximum). d. A letter describing and explaining her/his ideas about how the financial grant would enhance her/his research capabilities (in English within maximum 500 words) 2
