CALL FOR CANDIDATES
TO PREPARE A MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN FRANCE
Paris Institute of Technology - ParisTech - is offering 50 places to young Chinese graduates of Tongji, Fudan and
Jiatong Universities in SHANGHAI, Tsinghua, Beida and CAU in BEIJING and Nanjing University, NAU and
SouthEastern University in NANJING, to enable them to pursue a two-year programme in engineering in France
and obtain a French Engineering Degree (equivalent to an M.Sc. degree) at one of the Institutes of Paris Tech.

ParisTech is offering 50 Scholarships covering two years of tuition at 18,000 Euros a year. Candidates admitted
will have to fund their travel costs to France and their residential costs in France for the duration of their studies.
These costs are in the order of 8,000 Euros a year. Additional Scholarships of Excellence covering these costs
may be offered to a certain number of suitable candidates by the French Government and by French corporations
who wish to hire Chinese engineers as future senior executives.
Eligibility requirements:
- hold a B.Sc. degree obtained at one of the aforementioned universities;
- be short-listed by that university;
- be fluent in English;
- become fluent in French during the year preceding the start of the academic year at the ParisTech
Institute which has admitted the candidate.
An Examination Board will interview eligible candidates in Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing
from 25 October to 2 November 2003.
Candidates will have to complete a written examination followed by an interview.
Preparation of the Application package (maximum 10 pages)
Step Number 1
In view of this examination, candidates should prepare a single PDF application file containing:
-
a detailed personal C.V. following the model below ;
the scores obtained, only in the courses of your majors, during the last three years;
your ranking : specify if the rank is within the class or the department and the total numbers of
students in each case ;
a one-page letter of motivation in French or English;
a one-page description of a professional project you would like to pursue in French or English .

Step Number 2
If, on the basis of your application file, you are considered eligible by the Examination Board, you will be informed of the date
and time of your selection examination and interview by a Professor from ParisTech during the week 25 October – 2
November 2003.
In this case you will be required to prepare the following documents and present them to the
Examiners on the day of the interview :




One original reference letter from a Professor or the Director of your Department.
The original of the University transcript of your scores in English, certified.
Maximum 3 certificates in English of your most important Academic Honours and Awards and
scores of French (TEF) and English (TOEFL, TSE, GRE) language tests.
A photograph of yourself.
Step Number 3
Before the end of December 2003, you will be officially informed whether you have been admitted
to ParisTech and to which of its Institutes.
You will then be required to start learning French immediately.
You will also be asked to provide, before end January 2004, some additional information required
for your « Scholarship of Excellence » application.
