Exercise 6
Title Page
A title page is the first page of a report. It gives the title of a report, the name of the writer, the name of
the person for whom the report was prepared, and the date. For academic reports, it also contains the
name of the course. To format a title page:
1. To begin select the Home ribbon and the ¶ No Spacing box from the Styles section.
2. Check to make sure that all margins are set to 2”.
3. Use the Font: Calibri Size: 11
4. Center all lines of text.
5. Enter 6 times and type How to Make Decisions on the Job in bold. This is the Title of the Story
6. Enter 10 times and type Submitted by.
7. Enter 2 times and type Your Name.
8. Enter 10 times and type Prepared for.
9. Enter 2 times and type the Teacher’s Name.
10. Enter 1 time and type the Class Name.
11. Enter 2 times and type the Date.
12. Save As: Hour # Last Name Exercise 6
Table of Contents
A table of contents may follow the title page. It is an outline of the headings in a report and the pages
on which they are found. To format a table of contents:

Continue on with the next page following your title page. (DO NOT OPEN A NEW DOCUMENT)
Center and type the word CONTENTS at the top of the page followed by a double space.
Type major headings in all caps; leave a blank line before and after them.
Space 5 times before subheadings (or press tab)and type them with initial caps and single spacing.
Align page numbers at the right and precede them with dot leaders—a series of periods that help
guide the reader’s eye from the headings to the page numbers.
