NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP CHILD CARE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS Guidelines & FAQs What is the Child Care Financial Assistance Program? The Child Care Financial Assistance Program provides assistance with payment for child care for income eligible parents and/or legal guardians of children from birth through 12 years of age. The purpose of the program is to enable working families to obtain quality, affordable child care while they are at work, school, or job training. What type of assistance can I expect to receive? All applicants are expected to pay a portion of the fees. Financial assistance amounts vary and are based on the family’s personal situation, income, and cost of care provided. Before/After School Financial Assistance is awarded by the semester. Day Care Financial Assistance is awarded monthly from September 1st through August 31st. Summer Camp Financial Assistance is awarded yearly for the summer months when camp is in session. Am I eligible for assistance? To be eligible for assistance you must meet the following requirements: Have lawful custody of a child under the age of 13 who receives care in a licensed facility; Both child and the parent or legal guardian must reside within the boundaries of New Trier Township; Both custodial parent(s) or guardian must be working (full or part-time), attending school, or in a job training program during the hours of the child care program; Meet income guidelines. Gross income per year must be less than or equal to the amounts listed below. Extraordinary medical expenses or circumstances will be taken into account. Compare your household income with the chart below. You may be eligible for assistance if your income is within these limits: FAMILY SIZE GROSS INCOME 2 $46,000 3 $49,000 4 $52,000 5 $56,000 6 $60,000 Submit a completed Child Care Financial Assistance application along with required documentation such as, but not limited to, federal income tax return, recent paycheck stubs, proof of residency, verification of child’s enrollment in program, child care provider license #, current fee sheet from child care provider. Incomplete applications, or those missing required documentation, will be returned for completion. Failure to provide all documentation will render applicant ineligible for the Child Care Financial Assistance Program. The child care program selected must be State Licensed. The program must also meet one of the following requirements: State Licensed Day Care Provider; Accredited Kindergarten or Pre-school Program; Affiliated with either a School or Park District. How is the child care provider paid? Child care providers are paid directly from New Trier Township. Parents and/or guardians are responsible for paying the balance. Who will review my application? Social services professionals will review your application and submitted documents. All information will remain highly confidential. How will I know if my application has been accepted or rejected? All applicants are notified in writing of the status of their request. What is the deadline to apply? Summer Camp Assistance applications must be received by April 30th of the current year. Day Care Assistance applications must be received by July 15th of the current year. Before/After School Care Assistance applications must be received by July 31st of the current year.
