Nutrition Log Analysis Name: ___________________ Directions 1. Go to www.mypyramid.gov 2. Click on My Pyramid Tracker in the blue subject box to the lower left. 3. Click on Assess Your Food Intake. 4. On this page you will need to register. Click on here to register. Create an Id Create a password Confirm password (Don’t fill out any thing else down) Click on SUBMIT bar USER ID: ____________________________ Password: ________________ Select Age Select Gender Enter Today’s date (If not shown) Enter Height/Weight Enter Weight Click on Proceed to Food Intake Bar 5. In the Enter Food Item section, choose 1 day from your nutrition log and type in each food item eaten for that day. Spelling needs to be correct. Click Search and select correct food item. 6. Continue adding all foods eaten for the day. 7. Once all foods have been entered, click on the Select Quantity bar on the right side. 8. For each food item listed, select your serving size. When you are finished selecting the serving sizes, enter the number of servings consumed. Example: Foods Consumed Apple Jacks Cereal Banana Select Serving Size 1 cup 1 medium # of Servings 2.5 .5 9. Once all foods have been completed, click on the PRINT FOOD RECORD which you will turn in with your Nutrition Log. 10. Go back and click on the Save and Analyze Bar. 11. On the next page, “Analyze Your Food Intake”, scroll down to the MyPryamid Recommendation Box and click on the Calculate MyPyramid Stats. 12. Print Your Pyramid Stats, which you will turn in with your Nutrition Log. 13. Return to the “Analyze Your Food Intake” page. Scroll down to the Nutrient Intakes box and click on the Calculate Nutrient Intakes from Foods. 14. Print your Nutrient Intakes, which you will turn in with your Nutrition Log. 15. Return to the “Analyze Your Food Intake” page. Scroll down to the Meeting 2005 Dietary Guideline box and click on the Calculate DG Comparison. 16. Click on “Maintains your current weight” and click GO! 17. Print The Dietary Guidelines (DG) Recommendations, which you will turn in with your Nutrition Log. 18. Use the 4 print-outs, along with your nutrition log to complete the Nutrition Analysis Questions. Nutrition Log Analysis Questions 1. Using Your Pyramid Stats, (the one with the bar graphs) and the Dietary Guidelines (DG) Recommendations, (the one with the smiley faces), compare your intake of each category with the amount recommended by the USDA for your age gender and activity level. 2. Using the Nutrient Intakes page, list 3 nutrients that you were above or below the acceptable range. For each of those nutrients, describe your plan for balancing your nutritional intake. 3. After completing this nutrition log and analysis, explain your nutritional plan for yourself to maintain or improve your health.
