THE FACULTY
The Faculty consists of the Office of the Dean, the Schools of Fashion & Textiles, Art
& Culture, Creative Media and Applied Communications.

THE SCHOOL
RMIT Fashion and Textiles is a major provider of education and training for the
textiles and fashion industries.
RMIT Fashion and Textiles incorporates all stages of supply chain management from
fibre production, textile technology, textile and fashion design, garment production,
merchandising and marketing through to retailing.
RMIT Fashion and Textiles offers undergraduate programs, masters, PhD degrees,
short courses and enterprise training, making it one of the leading fashion and textile
design educators throughout Australia.

JOB SUMMARY
The appointee will be required to contribute to the academic and administrative
functions of the Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design with input into subjects dealing
with textile design, design development, drawing and presentation projects. An
ability to teach the use of textile specific CAD programs such as photo-shop and
Illustrator will be required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The appointee will be responsible to the Head of School through the Program Coordinator.
The appointee will be responsible for the organisation of part-time and visiting
lecturers within the subjects specified.

KEY OBJECTIVE
7.1
To contribute as a member of the Course Team and the Discipline to the
development, organisation and evaluation of the undergraduate and post
graduate programs in Textile Design, with specific contribution to the
development of design based subjects.
7.2
To provide an effective and stimulating teaching and learning program as part
of continuous development of a quality educational environment.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Position Accountabilities
8.1
The delivery of lectures, seminars and tutorials relative to subjects specified in
6.1. Preparation of lectures and teaching material for subjects specified;

The conduct of appropriate research and program development including the
future implementation of IT components within the subject area;
8.3
Contributing to the research profile of the discipline and continuous;
8.4
Upgrading of personal knowledge and skills;
8.5
Consultation with students to monitor progress;
8.6
Assessment and evaluation of subjects taught and provision of appropriate
feed back to students;
8.7
Development of material to improve quality and relevance of subjects in
consultation with course team and discipline leader;

Contributing to the administrative functions of the discipline as required with
specific duties as designated;

Attendance at discipline and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of
committees as required;
