2. Topical Work and Common Work:
2a. Discussed possibility of some kind of Summer Institute. OSPI used to use
it as a way to unveil new assessments and information needed by school
districts.
Suggestions were that it might be a good way to:
 Help with the professional development needed around the
frameworks chosen by schools for the TPEP evaluations.
 Be a Trainer of trainers institute for school districts to send the
teachers they have chosen to train their teachers on the instructional
frameworks to get trained on them
 Standards Based Grading could be another stream with instruction
and focus on scales and leveling of instruction and assessment.
2b. Discussion continued on the magnitude of the work of TPEP for the
districts. Each district shared how they were communicating to their staff
what the first TPEP meeting covered and how they were getting the
homework done for the October 18th meeting.
Dana presented a tentative plan for the next TPEP meeting to get some
feedback for the planning committee. Discussion ensued about teachers
changing practice and how one of the focuses of the next TPEP meeting will
be working on teacher evaluation and dealing with their hopes and fears.
Dana mentioned that Steve Holland at Raymond School District had
incorporated teacher practices and procedure into Student Achievement
Board policy. Copies of these documents will be posted to the Curriculum
Directors’ web page.
2c. Consensus of the group was that it would be beneficial at each meeting to
hear from a district about their professional development plan. Kathy will
send an email out with a request for monthly sign-up before our October
meeting.
2d. Other: Sack lunch for meeting with learning about First People’s
Curriculum (TBA), Part 2 of SBG workshop (TBA), HOLT user group info to
