The Committee noted the action taken and took further decision regarding submission
of ETD as detailed under item no. 39.7
Item No. 39.4 To consider renewal of print journals subscription for the year
2008
The Committee recommended subscription 108 print journals and 10 newspapers for
the year 2008 as listed in the annexure-1.

Renewal of Subscription of Electronic Resources Packages
The Committee approved renewal of paid subscription to the following e-journal
packages for the year 2008:

ACM Digital Library 32 Journals+ conferences




IEEE (IEL Online) 219 journals + Conferences (5 seats)
ASME (21 Journals Mechanical Engineering)
ASCE (30 Journals Civil Engineering)
Science Direct (Engineering Package 160 titles) + Computer Science free
Item N: 39.6To consider additional Print/Electronic Journals for the year 2008.
The Committee recommended subscription to print/electronic journals as listed in
the annexure-2.
The Committee recommended additional budget to be made available for these.
Item N: 39.7 Status of Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETD) project.
The Committee noted the progress made on the Electronic Theses & Dissertation
project. It however, noted with concern that the decision taken by the Committee in
its earlier meetings have not been implemented. It was mentioned that majority of PG
and Ph.D. degrees this year were awarded without a copy of the dissertation/thesis
having been submitted on the DSpace server of the Central Library, which was
mandatory as per the decisions taken in the 38th meeting . members mentioned that

the requirement of submitting ETD have not been communicated to all the concerned
faculty/guides. The following decisions have been taken:
1. Dean AA and Dean, RSP to issue necessary guidelines by December 31, 2007.

2. Dean AA, Dean RSP and the Registrar to ensure that award of degree in future
not to be notified unless the student submits a copy of the DSpace system
generated email countersigned by the concerned guide acknowledging
submission and approval of the ETD.

3. By default, all ETDs will be online immediately after approval process. However,
the online publication may be deferred for a reasonable period of time, not
exceeding two year from the date of notification of the award of degree, provided
sufficient justification such as patent filing, is provided in the IPR Declaration
cum license by the candidate for such deferment. Central Library will make
suitable amendment in the IPR declaration cum License Form for this purpose,
by December 31, 2007.
