HPC Fall Midterm Review (35 points possible, then multiply by 1.5 for a 52.5 assessment)

Section 6.1-6.3 (10 points)

You should be able to:

Convert radians to degrees and degrees to radians

Convert DMS to decimal degrees & decimal degrees to DMS

Use s = r

and solve for the missing value

Calculate angular velocity

Calculate linear speed

Find the exact values of trigonometric identities involving angles on the unit circle

Find the exact values of trigonometric identities involving a point on the terminal side of the ray

Sections 8.1-8.4 (5 points)

You should be able to:

Solve right triangle trig applications

Convert unit circle angles to direction/bearings (both methods)

 Compute the area of a triangle using the non Heron’s formula (with sine in it)

Write bearings with unit circle values, not bearing ones!

Solve velocity vector/ resultant force problems

Calculate the dot product

Calculate the angle between 2 vectors

Compute work

Decompose a vector into 2 perpendicular vectors

Compute the cross product

Calculate a vector normal to 2 other vectors

Find the area of a parallelogram
