Since its inception in 1898, the School of Pharmacy has been a leader in pharmaceutical education and research. The VCU School of Pharmacy continually strives to promote excellence in all of its' programs. Our mission is to provide professional, graduate, and postgraduate education, conduct pharmaceutical and biomedical research, and deliver pharmaceutical care and public service. We are the only school of pharmacy to offer a complete spectrum of academic programs in pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These programs include the PharmD, and the M.S. and Ph.D. in the pharmaceutical sciences. The professional degree program at the School is the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) which leads to a career as a pharmacist. Further academic options can be sought through the School's graduate program in pharmaceutical sciences. The graduate program leads to an M.S., a Ph.D., and postdoctoral study. Areas of concentration include Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacy Administration and Pharmacology and Toxicology. The professional degree can be combined with the M.S. or Ph.D. in any of the above areas of concentration. Additionally, the professional degree can be combined with an MBA degree, in conjunction with the VCU School of Business or a MPH degree, in conjunction with the VCU School of Public Health.
