Box 7539 Van Nuys, CA 91409 Organization Information: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African American college women. The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter is located in the San Fernando Valley. The chapter has voluntarily served the educational, economic and health needs of individuals and families within the local community since 1990. Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter offers scholarships to provide financial assistance and motivation to students pursuing higher educational endeavors, who reside in the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley or Simi Valley areas. Eligibility Factors and Limitations: 1. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or transferring community college students enrolling in a four-year college/university beginning Fall 2016. First-time community college students are eligible as well. 2. Applicants must have preferably grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. 3. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in a 4-year or 2-year institution of higher education beginning Fall 2016. Application Packet: Complete Application Packet must be mailed(postmarked) by March 31, 2016 deadline date. Contents will not be returned to you.
