The Christian Singles Hikers are announcing our schedule for 2012, which is our sixteenth year of enjoying
outdoor events together. Thanks to everybody who agreed to lead an event! Come join us to share the nice
weather, the beauty of the outdoors, and some great fellowship. Please mark these down on your calendar and
come with us for some of our events:
February 18 - Northfield, MA. If there is enough snow, we will go cross country skiing and maybe snowshoeing at
Northfield Mountain near the Connecticut River; if not, we will go hike in the Hartford area.
March 31 - Wells State Park, MA. Come enjoy an early spring hike in this centrally located park. This will be a
great opportunity to stretch your legs on our first hike after the end of the winter and go to lunch together
afterwards.
April 28 - East Bay Bike Path, RI. This was so popular in past years, we are doing again! This bike trip goes from
East Providence to Bristol along a paved, abandoned railroad line. This scenic route takes you to a park with a
beach and passes along the coves, marshes, and shores of Narragansett Bay. For those who want to rent a bike,
there is a place nearby to do so.
May 19 - Ascutney, VT. This hike up Mt. Ascutney will be one of our two aggressive hikes of the year. The
breathtaking views in all directions from the top and some additional vistas along the trail will make the hike
through this hardwoods forest well worth the effort.
June * - "Taste of Amherst", MA. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! We will have our easiest hike of the year on
the Holyoke Range and enjoy the great views. We will then sample food from Amherst area restaurants on the
town's village green; no matter what kind of meal you are looking for, you will be able to find it here (or you can
have a little of everything). Our group had its largest turnout ever at this event; set aside this date now to find out
why!
July * - Mott's Mystery March??? We will find out in July where Mott will lead this hike. It will be a moderate
hike with a meal together afterwards. Will it be a forgotten favorite or a new hike? Either way, it will be one that
we have not been to recently (if ever), so you will want to go.
August * - Peterborough, NH. Hiking Pack Monadnock at Miller State Park in New Hampshire is a forgotten
favorite of this group. From the top of "little Monadnock," and North Pack Monadnock there are great views in
many directions, including of Mt. Monadnock to the west. It is a great hike and much easier than going up its
namesake.
September * - Blue Hills, MA. This large green oasis near Boston makes one forget how close the city is. There a
wide variety of plant and animal life here, so come enjoy the beauty that God created.
October * - Alander Mountain, MA and NY. Come see the fall colors in the Berkshires. Last year's hike here was
one of the most beautiful this group has ever gone on, so we want to do it again. This hike will be one of our most
rigorous of the year, but the breathtaking views and seeing Bash-Bish Falls will make it well worth the effort.
November 3 - Mashamoquet Brook State Park (Wolf Den), CT. Come enjoy a brisk late fall hike and a lunch
together afterwards. The park is also called Wolf Den because we will see the den where the state's last wild wolf
lived. When we have gone here in the past, we have had large turnouts; come join us this time.

Hartford Swing Dance holds a swing dance with live music on the first Friday of every month at the West
Hartford Town Hall. A beginner East Cost Swing dance lession is provided from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm with general
dancing afterwards until 11:30 pm. Admission varies depending on the band and discounts ($2 off) are offered to
HCD members. All dances are alcohol- and smoke-free.

women's groups, and youth groups. While TLC began her career as a
musician, she shines in the speaking opportunities that have come

Lost in Vegas is a detective/love story. It’s all about relationships and the hunger in each one of us for love and
ultimately (if we are honest) divine romance. It’s a story of redemption and forgiveness, but makes no attempt to
whitewash the horrors of real life and the evil choices we can make. Each character is on a quest for the light and
life often only found in fables and fairy tales. It is a challenge to men and an inspiration to women. Even though it
deals with the violent crimes done to women, it is intended to elevate them for who they really are...
February 19, Sunday—We’re going bowling! We will be bowling at Silver Lanes so all serious bowlers (and
non-serious!) come join the fun. Ball, shoes and two hours of bowling will cost $12.50 .
We will meet at 1:30 pm at the church admin parking lot which is located across the road from Crossroads
Community Cathedral at 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
Following the bowling, for those who are interested, we will gather for a meal at a local restaurant.
