Attach Factory ID to Every Item by – In Online Item File (in Retail Link), attach the appropriate Factory ID to each of your items that are in production from June 1, 2009 and forward. Please note that you must attach multiple factory IDs to an item if you are using more than one factory for the production. Please refer to the respective help documentation for Wal-Mart and Sam‟s Online Item File – For items that reflect factory IDs, please confirm that all active items reflect the correct factory ID (or multiple factories IDs if more than one factory), and that inactive factory IDs have been updated or deleted. Failure to do so could result interruption to your business. Wal-Mart Ethical Standards ~ Confidential 6 Color Coded Factory Audit Assessments Green Yellow Orange No/minor violations - Re-audit in 2 years - - Medium risk violations - Re-audit in 1 year - High risk violations - Re-audit in 180 days - 3rd Orange: Factories that receive 3 Orange assessments in a 2-year period are Red-Disapproved for 1 year Receiving a Green, Yellow or Orange rating is not a guarantee for order from Walmart. Based on risk, our Sourcing organization may not place orders in a factories with 1 or 2 Orange ratings Red Failed - Most serious violations (Underage Labor, Forced/Prison Labor, Corporal Punishment, Life threatening Working Conditions, Transshipment) - No future business Wal-Mart Ethical Standards ~ Confidential 7 Factory Prequalification Process • An Ethical Standards audit will be required prior to order commitment for new factories of GP Direct Import Suppliers where Walmart is the Importer of Record • The cost of all prequalification audits will be borne by the supplier. • The Factory must receive a Yellow or Green audit assessment prior to order commitment. – Orange is not an acceptable audit assessment for Factory Prequalification Process Wal-Mart Ethical Standards ~ Confidential 8 Primary ES Changes In 2009 Changes Effective Revised Audit timelines to enable remediation focus – Green rating: follow up audit 2 years (no change) – Yellow rating: follow up audit every 12 months (up from 6 months) – Orange rating: follow up audit every 6 months (up from 4 months) January 2009 GP (Direct Import) Suppliers and Non GP (Domestic Import) suppliers pay for all audits – All Initial & follow up audits will be conducted by 3rd parties. NOTE: Buyers may decide not to place order in a factory that has 2 or 3 Orange assessments Wal-Mart Ethical Standards ~ Confidential 13 Subcontractor’s Factory & Disclosure • Ethical Standards audits will be required at subcontractor’s factory if the factory is producing…….. – Finished merchandise – where the substantial transformation of the product took place – Part of an article which has a Wal-Mart brand logo • It is the responsibility of the supplier to disclose all such subcontractors used for Wal-Mart merchandise • If it is discovered that a factory is producing merchandise for WalMart in a subcontracted factory or factories with NO valid ES audit, then the primary factory automatically will receive an “Orange” assessment.
