Santa Rosa Junior College Public Safety Training Center 5743 Skylane Blvd., Windsor, CA 95492 * 837-8843 * FAX 836-2948 April 2016 BASIC POLICE ACADEMY – INTENSIVE Santa Rosa Junior College will be conducting orientation and testing for the April 4 through August 19 Basic Police Academy. This intensive 20 week, 800 hour academy generally meets from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday in addition to some evenings and weekends. The Academy teaches criminal law, laws of search and seizure, laws of evidence, traffic laws, investigative techniques, patrol procedures, firearms, driver training, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR and more. The Academy is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Successful completion of this course will make you eligible for employment as a police officer or deputy sheriff anywhere in California. QUALIFICATIONS AND INFORMATION: The class will be held at our facility in Windsor. All your travel, transportation and accommodation arrangements should be made with this in mind when you consider enrolling in this class you: * Must attend orientation for this class. * Must present photo I.D. at the time of testing. * Must POSSESS a valid driver's license at time of the class. * Must pass the P.O.S.T. Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLET B) with a score of T42 or higher. (Required by most California law enforcement agencies). * Must be eligible to register as a student at Santa Rosa Junior College without a waiver of College regulations. * Must pass a California Department of Justice criminal records check (cost varies). Non-residents must also pass a FBI criminal records check at an additional cost. * Must pass a medical examination. 2 * Must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. certificate. * Must purchase or possess all Academy uniforms and equipment (approx. cost $2000). * California residents must pay course cost: $4,053.00 * Out of State residents must pay course cost: $8,358.00 * * Fees subject to change Financial Aid and Veterans benefits and scholarships are available to qualified students. This orientation will provide an overview of the course. Selection will be based on a passing test score and completeness of the application packet. If you have taken the P.O.S.T. Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLET B) at the Training Center or other location within one year of the start of the academy you are applying to attend, you do not need to retest if you scored T-42 or higher.
