Hello and welcome to TPS. We are looking forward to having
you join us in September and hope that you are looking
forward to starting secondary school. TPS is a great place to
have fun while you learn, meet new friends, learn new
subjects and skills, take part in a wide variety of activities and
grow into responsible and well-rounded young adults.
What is Your TPS Summer Project?
TPS is proud to be at the centre of its community and we
strive in everything we do to help those around us, so that
no-one is left behind. One way we show our commitment to
our community and those around us is by supporting
different charities. Each House has a nominated charity that
it raises money for. Your task is to create a proposal and
promotional materials for an event to raise money for your
House charity. You will hand in your charity project to your
new year 7 tutor when you join TPS in September. The best
proposal from each House will win a prize and the whole
House will become involved in making your event happen in
school.

Analyse the Science behind your Charity
Produce a spider diagram to show the links between your charity and science.
Start with the name of your charity in the centre. Each box around it should
name a scientific area that is important to your charity, then add more detail.
For example:
Research into
genetics
Treatment and
care
Research into different
types of cancer
Causes
Searching for a cure
Medical facts
Cancer Research
Animal testing
Research some facts to go in each box as well as just the titles. You could add
examples, pictures of scientists or scientific equipment into the boxes as well.
Your spider diagram could end up quite large, so plan it carefully!
