This lecture-based, advanced-level course will review
partnership taxation or an LLC taxed as a partnership.
Discussion will cover formation, operation, contributions,
and cash distributions. Recent changes in law or rulings
will be emphasized. Areas of concern dissolution of a
partnership and related choices the partners can make
to reduce taxes. One example is the contribution of
property to the partnership and its subsequent sale. The
focus will be on small businesses although the instructor
may address all types of partnership questions. Primary
materials will be IRS publications, chapters from previous
years’ books, and IRS forms. This will be a good review
of partnership taxation for those who have partnership
returns or for those who want to understand more about
partnerships. You will be working with facts and the tax
consequences for partners and the partnership. There are
no prerequisites or advanced preparation for this course.

Carol Gregory Wright, CPA - Previously with the IRS with
a career spanning 36 years from tax auditor to RA, she
taught partnership tax for two years after she retired from
the IRS. In addition to conducting audits, Carol taught
all phases of IRS classes, including yearly continuing
professional education. She developed courses for
NEW!
on-the-job Instructors, as well as technical topics about
partnership, tax shelter, and basic corporate taxation.
Partnership topics are interesting because partners can
get into shifting income and basis without intending to do
so. She currently teaches a two-day partnership class for
practitioners and at Michigan State University’s Income
Tax Schools.
Registered Tax Return Preparer Exam Prep Course

The IRS has implemented the Registered Tax Return
Preparer Examination in an effort to ensure competency
and professional standards in the tax preparation industry.
This exam is now required for tax preparers who are not
Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), Enrolled Agents, or
attorneys before they can be classified as a Registered
Tax Return Preparer (RTRP). There is no limit to the
number of times you can take the IRS exam, but you must
succeed in passing the exam by December 31, 2013. In
addition, you must pay a fee of $116 each time you take
the test. In order to sufficiently prepare yourself to take
the exam and successfully pass on the first go around,
we recommend this lecture-based prep course which is
appropriate for all levels. This course qualifies for 8 credit
hours from NC State University. NC State University is an
approved continuing education provider for the Internal
Revenue Service. There are no prerequisites or advanced
preparation for this course.

You will leave this practical, lecture-based, advancedlevel workshop with a valuable understanding of the

for the proper completion of a fiduciary tax return. There
