UPCOMING AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL STRIKES
We have become aware that Spanish Air Traffic Control have planned industrial action for this coming weekend. The main ATC Union in Spain has called for industrial action in July as follows:
25th July from 1000-1300 UTC
26th July from 1700-2000 UTC
Negotiations are ongoing between ENAIRE and Union.
Whilst we sincerely hope that our customers experience minimal disruptions to their journeys, in order to assist you to give the most accurate information it is important to note that our policies do not offer cover for strike action that had been announced or had started before the departure of the trip. Therefore, any trip due to begin since this announcement was made would, unfortunately, not be covered.
Any person currently on their trip, where they had departed before this announcement, is covered under the travel delay section of the policy only. As usual for claims of this nature, any submission will be assessed based purely upon the length of time for which the customer was delayed. We are sorry to say that the policy will not look to consider specific costs should the customers choose to find alternative transportation home.
PLEASE NOTE: If they go ahead, the strikes will be for 3 hours on each day. This will, of course, have a knock on effect but the likelihood is that the time frames will not meet the minimum requirements for a travel delay claim to be considered. Please feel free to contact us for any specific questions that you may have.
