November 13, 2013 Dear Parent/Guardian: As we enter the second trimester of the school year, we need your help and understanding to enhance our learning environment and ensure the safety of every student. Effective immediately, we have made the following revisions to our early dismissal system to more efficiently manage our increased enrollment and more effectively honor our commitment to you to provide a secure school climate. NEW EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES WRITTEN REQUEST: On the day before the dismissal from school, or before first period on the day of an early dismissal, a student must bring to the attendance clerk’s table in the gym lobby a written request that includes the following information: • date and time of early dismissal • reason for dismissal • name of parent/guardian to contact • phone number of parent/guardian to contact for verification. LOGISITICS: • The student will receive a standard dismissal note signed by staff indicating the date and time of dismissal. • At the beginning of class, the student should share the dismissal note with the teacher. • At the approved dismissal time, the student will be allowed to come to the office to sign out provided the original note was verified by MTS staff. SIGN OUT: • The parent/guardian or approved designee must sign out a student for early dismissal. Students may not sign themselves out. • A parent/guardian who did not request prior approval, but arrives at school to sign out a student will be asked to wait until the end of a class period. • No early dismissals will be allowed after 2:00 PM.
