TEENS XCITE CELL PLAN – 31 May 2014
The Songs We Sing
(Based on TX message on 24 May 2014)
WORKS - Application & Reflection (20 mins)
As a cell, we are going to apply what was shared by researching on a very
popular song that we all should know – Still by Hillsongs.
Warm Up (15 mins)
Give the cell group 10mins to research about the song ‘Still by Hillsongs’.
Logistics: Prepare a list of words (e.g Worship, Crown, Love, Victor), an object to grab
e.g water bottle or wallet.

CL divides the cell into 2 groups. Get the groups to stand facing each other with
the object in between the 2 groups.
CL will shout out a word and each group have to send someone to snatch the
object.
The group whom snatched the object will have 10 seconds to sing a worship song
with that word in the lyrics. (Whole group have to sing together)
1 point will be awarded to the group if they can sing the song, if not the point will
be awarded to the other group. (Songs sang cannot be repeated, even if the word
given is different)
Repeat with another word and after 10mins, tally the total score and announce the
winning group.

WORD (20 mins)
a) Transition
Now we know who are the “worship song experts” in the cell. However, worship is
not about just memorising the lyrics or singing very well. Worship is about focusing
our thoughts and desires to God and God alone.
b) Re-cap Sermon
Last Week, Pastor Daniel shared with us on how we should relate to the worship
songs we sing and what should our heart’s attitude be when we worship God.
Cell members can:
Find relating scriptures to the parts of the songs.
Come out with applications in their life.
Read up about why and how did the song writer compose the song
(optional and might be hard to find)
E.g. Relating Scripture for Still: Psalm 46 (get the members to examine the
psalm thoroughly)
Application: When I am troubled, I will remember that God is always with me
and will see me through the storms.
i.
Get the cell to share their favourite worship song/s. Get them to go home to
research on that song and report to you via sms or whatapp on their findings
and applications.
ii.
Group the cell into groups of 2s or 3s. Get each of the cell members share if
there are anything that is stopping them from worshiping God with all their
hearts. After sharing, pray for each other and prepare their hearts to worship
God during TX.

How should we relate to the worship songs we sing?
1.
Sing what you Mean
-
This refers to our inward attitude when we worship.
-
What are some of our heart’s condition when we worship God? Are we
distracted with our problems, other agendas or with the people around us?
-
Remember that God must always be the centre of our worship.
2.
Mean what you Sing
-
Closing our eyes, lifting our hands and singing worship songs without
pondering and reflecting on the lyrics is as good as singing karaoke.
We need to develop a habit of applying the lyrics of the songs we sing into our
daily life. This is how to really mean what we sing.
