Automotive Technology The Automotive Department at Mott Community College prepares students for both the Associate of Applied Science Degree and Certificate of Achievement. Automotive Technology is certified through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and includes all eight ASE certification areas. The Automotive Undercar Repair Certificate of Achievement prepares students to quickly gain a high quality skill set to pursue jobs in the areas of manual transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, and engine repair. Students are able to take the State of Michigan Automotive Mechanic Certification exams. We encourage students to continue to build their skill set to become versatile, knowledgeable, capable automotive technicians. The jobs of today require highly skilled technicians. Mott Community College offers … Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Undercar Repair Automotive Technology is NATEF certified Hybrid Vehicle Training Hybrid vehicles are becoming somewhat common and technicians need these skills to give them the advantage in the job market. The college has added the Hybrid Vehicle Fundamentals and Repair class to help address this need. The course includes an understanding of the principles of hybrid vehicles, safely handling high voltage batteries, DC to DC converters, regenerative braking systems and more. The program has four hybrid vehicles for students to gain experience including a Chevrolet Tahoe, Saturn Vue, and a Toyota Prius. Michigan automotive certification testing is done onsite. Factory Five endorses the Build School at Mott to build both the Mk4 Roadster and the ‘33 Hot Rod at the Livingston Campus. Mott hosts the only Factory Five Build School in the country. These are two non-credit classes that are not part of the academic automotive program.
