In order to succeed on this test, you must study. If you have been taking notes while you read, your studying will
be much easier. If not, you better get started now. The test is composed of the following: objective (true/false,
multiple choice, matching) and quote identification. You will also find a vocabulary matching section and a
verbal phrase (gerunds and participial) identification section.

III. Vocabulary: You will match vocab words to a list of synonyms. Be sure to understand these words.
Don’t just memorize a single synonym for each word. What if I don’t use the synonym you have
memorized???
IV. Verbal Phrases: You will label each underlined phrase as either a gerund phrase or a participial phrase.
