NOTE: Prerequisite course work may be in progress at the time of application to VMCAS.
However, no more than two of the following courses may be in progress beyond December
31, 2015: Upper-Division Biological and Life Sciences, Microbiology, Upper-Division
Physiology, or Genetics
All prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Spring 2016 semester or quarter.
Summer courses prior to matriculation will not be accepted.
All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
Completed worksheet must be uploaded to your VMCAS application by the September 15,
2015 Midnight EDT deadline before we will process your application. Faxed and emailed
copies will not be accepted.
ALL COURSES ON THE WORKSHEET MUST BE LISTED IN OUR PREREQUISITE
DATABASE. APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT A SYLLABUS BY EMAIL TO DESIGNATED

All scores MUST BE RECEIVED on or before the Secondary Application deadline date and

Exams must be taken on or before August 1, 2015 to allow for scores to be received by the
deadline. Any exam taken after August 1, 2015 runs the risk of your application being
deemed incomplete and ineligible for consideration.
G. OFFICIAL TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCORE REPORT (IF APPLICABLE)




The TOEFL (including essay) required for all applicants who are not U.S. citizens and for whom
English is a second language.
EXCEPTION: The exam will be waived for students who have graduated with a confirmed
baccalaureate or higher degree from a United States institution at the time of application.
Minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test or 213 on the computer-based test is required.
Scores are valid for 3 years.
Score report should be requested by the applicant and sent to the applicant’s home address.
When envelope is received, do not open it. Forward the unopened score report to the university to
include with your application.
H. TRANSCRIPTS (REQUIRED)





A complete set of official transcripts (in sealed, original envelopes) are to be RECEIVED from all
colleges or universities attended BY VMCAS BY SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 at Midnight EDT.
Applicant must have received a grade of "C" (or equivalent) or higher in prerequisites to be
considered (A grade of “C-“is not acceptable).
Applicants must have earned an overall GPA greater than or equal to a 2.75 at the time of
application. This GPA must be maintained through matriculation into the program
All courses must be completed at a regionally-accredited college or university in the U.S.
Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Coursework completed outside the U.S. (including Canada) must be evaluated by a
Western University of Health Sciences approved evaluation service.

Suggestions: Selection of and coaching for your evaluators:

Evaluations should be solicited from people who know you well from extensive professional
interactions, but who are not related to you. Examples: veterinarians or other employers,
professors, teaching assistants, academic advisors, and mentors.

Letters of evaluation should state nature and extent to which the reference knows you, and
should elaborate on, among other things, your attributes and abilities in areas such as
communication skills, ethics, interpersonal skills, motivation toward the profession, and maturity.
Providing behavioral examples of your performance in these areas is encouraged.

Letters of evaluation received by VMCAS after September 15, 2015 will NOT be accepted by
Western University of Health Sciences. NO EXCEPTIONS.
By submitting the secondary application and supporting application materials, you are agreeing that

World Education Services (212-966-6311); to be considered. All courses must be completed with a grade of
“C” or higher (“C-“or lower is not acceptable). One course cannot be used to satisfy more than one
prerequisite.

Examples include courses in anatomy, nutrition, embryology, endocrinology, and zoology.
All except two of these courses must be completed by December 31st of the year immediately prior to
matriculation at WesternU-CVM (i.e. December 31, 2015 for matriculation in Fall 2016). You may only have ONE
of the three upper-division biological and life sciences in progress after Fall 2015.

REMINDER: Syllabi must be submitted and received by your designated admissions
counselor on or before the September 15, 2015 at Midnight PDT deadline for ALL
courses listed to satisfy the prerequisites and of which are NOT currently listed in the
Prerequisite Database. Course descriptions will not be accepted in place of syllabi.
