Lake Charles, LA – Winrock International and SWLA Economic Development Alliance hosted a workshop on September 16, 2013 at the newly opened SEED Center in Lake Charles to provide information to current and potential LNG industry contractors. The event drew an audience of approximately 90 people representing over 50 companies and agencies. Attendees heard presentations from SWLA Economic Development Alliance, Louisiana Economic Development, Cheniere Energy, and Safety Council of Southwest Louisiana. The presentations were designed to make local businesses aware of opportunities, incentives, and the contracting/licensing processes for working with the burgeoning LNG industry in Southwest Louisiana. Highlights from the presentations included a list of sectors that are in high demand within the LNG industry, training and tax incentive programs available through LED, SEED Center Incubator eligibility and application process, and information about how to register as a subcontractor with Cheniere. The Cheniere registration form can be found here. Plans are currently underway to host a November workshop in Cameron Parish. When details are finalized, the CLEAR Center will provide public notification through its Facebook page, local newspapers, newsletters, and direct e-mail.
