The South East committee and I would like to invite you to our Spring Regional Seminar and Care
Cook competition at Unilever Food Solutions Head Office.
At this seminar 6 South East finalists for the Regions Care Cook-Off Competition who will be battling
it out in the Knorr kitchen to win a place in this year Care Cook Finals 2012.
We will be joined by Kim Chadwick from Elmbridge Borough Council who late last year stared in
the BBC’s Hairy Bikers programme when they were set the task to change there frozen meals to
fresh. Kim will be giving us an in-depth presentation looking at the process and answering any
questions you may have.
Sylvette Peplowski from Fish2fork (the sustainable seafood restaurant guide) will be talking about
what Fish2fork is about and what it has achieved to date, and will draw up the parallels between the
hospitality and care catering sectors, the difficulties encountered when trying
to source fish sustainably in a question & answer style debate, which will hopefully stimulate thoughts
and ideas for some short term and longer-term solutions.
The Food Chain (reg. charity no. 1003014) has been providing nutritional support services for people
living with HIV in London since 1988. Today they provide services to over 1,000 people a year
through home delivered meals, groceries, cookery and nutrition classes and communal eating
opportunities. Inspired by the difference they make, over 700 volunteers help to deliver their services.
As you are aware the South East Seminars are well attended, so we recommend that members
complete the booking form and send it to Joanne Best with the booking fee of £15 including vat as
soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
There is no parking at Unilevers office however Leatherhead train station is only a few minutes away
and there is plenty of parking there with free shuttle service operated by Unilever. Details attached.
