Learning to Fly(Wildwood Stables #4)
by Suzanne Weyn
Note: I purchased a second-hand copy of the paperback edition of this book at a local used book store.
SYNOPSIS: Thirteen-year-old Taylor's adventures at Wildwood Stables, where anything is possible, continue! This
time, the stakes are even higher for Taylor and her beloved horse, Prince Albert.
The big competition Taylor's been training so hard for is finally here, and everything is ready! But the week before
the event, Prince Albert gets colic. Taylor is devastated -- will she lose her dream of competing and her beloved
horse, too?
My thoughts: This book was ok, and enjoyable, but definitely was not one of my favourite books of all time.
One of the things that really bugged me about this story was the lack of horse knowledge that the main character,
Taylor, seems to have about riding. I understand that she's a natural in the saddle, but it would be nice to see her
receiving some lessons or instruction, instead of just a bunch of girls riding whenever they want and not really
learning how to do it properly.
I also felt that a lot of the dialogue in this book was forced, and did not flow naturally the way teenage
conversation would.
I also think that parts of this book might give children the wrong ideas about riding - under no circumstances
should you EVER borrow, ride or use someone else's horse without permission from the owner, and without
supervision from an adult. A strange horse may react differently and may result in a dangerous situation. It really
bugged me that there were absolutely no consequences for Taylor for borrowing Monty, and no one even seemed
to notice. Also, they left their horses tethered to a trailer without supervision, which could be very dangerous as
well.
to notice. Also, they left their horses tethered to a trailer without supervision, which could be very dangerous as

Anyways, some of the horse scenes were very realistic, and the story had enough excitement to keep my attention.
I give this book 3/5 stars overall.|Learning to Fly/Suzanne Weyn
Taylor is a wonderful, adventuress, caring girl that loves horses. She has had many adventures with Prince Albert
and Pixie. I have enjoyed this series and I book number 5 until I have read the whole series.
Taylor was taking Prince Albert for a walk when Plum Mason's mom came speeding by. Taylor was started and let
go of Prince Albert's lead line. Prince Albert was frightened and ran up the road. Taylor screamed and yelled for
Albert but he wouldn't budge. Before she knew it a car was coming up the road. What will happen next?
Later in the book Taylor enters a beginners jumping contest. She had to learn fast because she only had a few
weeks. Right when it is 15 minutes before her turn she realizes that Prince Albert is missing a shoe. What will she
do next?|this book was just AMASING!!!!!!!!!!
I fell in love with the series. You should get this book!
|This was my favorite book out of the entire collection of Wildwood stables.
