PRO TECHnology to centralize access to academic
resources accross the emirates.

The UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced its partnership with PRO TECHnology, in its aims to provide a centralized access to academic
resources across the emirates. Under the terms of the strategic partnership, PRO TECHnology will provide secure, fast and reliable wireless network to
related educational zones and to all schools under the recognition of the Ministry. Further, the company announced that the implementation of the solution
will be based on the latest radio and wireless communication technologies.
The first phase of the ‘Inter-School Wireless Point to Point’ solution will interconnect the Ministry Of Education in Dubai, the Al Nouf Girls School in Sharjah,
the Umm-Ul-Quwain Educational Zone, and the Al Mualla Girls School in (Umm-Ul-Quwain) through an easily deployable network connectivity system.
Following an in-depth study by PRO TECHnology on the requirements of the Ministry as well as the needs of academic institutions that are situated in
various emirates, it has identified the importance of implementing wireless broadband to facilitate unhindered communication across schools and the MOE
itself. By adopting a robust wireless interconnectivity system, the administrators can save on the expense of installing and maintaining E1/T1 or other
leased lines, while minimizing the delay and cost of obtaining a permit for the trenching to lay out the fiber lines.
“This implementation marks an important milestone for the Ministry of Education and the entire formal education system of the UAE,” said Shaikha Kholood

PRO TECHnology deploys FileWave™ enterprise software
within Abu Dhabi Media Corporation
PRO TECHnology has recently deployed the FileWave™ enterprise software – a unique solution, which uses standard TCP IP network-based
technology for scheduled software distribution and management – within Abu Dhabi Media Corporation. The solution, which was developed by
a global technological leader for software management tools on Windows and Mac OS systems of the same name, is based on server/client
structure, with the server being the running engine and the client a silent daemon/ service on Mac/Windows clients. This way, all the work is done
from an admin machine, which gives commands reflected on the server and executed by client machines. There are also booster machines for
remote location as well as for achieving load balancing on the local network. Currently, PRO TECHnology is working on the implementation of
another product from the same company, which fully integrates with FileWave™. ‘Asset Trustee’ is expected to aid in facilitating a sophisticated
asset inventory for all the software and hardware in enterprises and corporate accounts.

Qualstar Expands XLS Enterprise Library Family
Qualstar® Corporation announced the XLS-8161100 Library Resource Module (LRM), the fourth member of the XLS Enterprise Tape Library System
family. The new model sets the industry standard for storage density and is particularly well suited for users with rapidly growing archive requirements. The
XLS-8161100 leverages the trend-setting expandability pioneered by Qualstar’s XLS-820500 and XLS-832700 LRMs,
which began shipping in 2006.
The new LRM delivers an initial native capacity up to 852 terabytes in less than 11 square feet of floor space. It houses
up to 16 IBM LTO 4™ (Ultrium™) tape drives, with aggregate data transfer rates exceeding 6.9 TB/hr. One or two 1,075
slot Memory Expansion Modules (MEM) can be added to each XLS-8161100, yielding a configuration that stores over
2.5 petabytes in less than 28 square feet. The new model can be intermixed with both new and installed XLS-820500
and XLS-832700 LRMs to deliver precisely tailored configurations to meet a broad range of end user capacity and
performance requirements.
Freecom’s 155-gram ‘ Mobile Drive XXS’ boasts
of up to 320 GB capacity storage
With its total size 27 per cent less compared to its closest competitor, the ‘Mobile Drive XXS’ is the lightest
2.5” external hard drive in the market, weighing in at 155 grams while offering up to 320GB of mobile backup.
The highly compact feature of the hard drive is expected to headline the marketing message, which PRO
TECHnology will be communicating to customers. The company’s hard-hitting and highly effective marketing
strategy has been recently recognised by Freecom through the ‘Best Performing Distributor for High Capacity
Mobile Drives’ award, which has been given to PRO TECHnology.
