Introductions: How many people have been cyberbullied or have cyberbullied someone? Many teenagers in 2011 use online accounts to socialize with friends and family, but sometimes people take advantage of these accounts. They also have people they dislike and they send them threats and uncomfortable statements through these accounts. Mostly the teenagers are the victims of cyberbullying. Key Findings: In social websites, there is a whole different world of danger for teenagers. In the Teen Section on “About.com,” cyber bullying is, “Any harassment that occurs via the internet. Vicious forum pots, name calling in chat rooms, posting fake profiles on website, and mean or cruel email messages are all the ways of cyber bullying.” One day investigators in Florida reported two young teenagers named McKenzie Barker and Taylor Wynn took a photo of their victim’s head and cut and pasted it to a picture of a naked girl. But it also contained male genitalia near the victim’s mouth. Then, they made a new account in Facebook and used this photo as a profile picture. They posted inappropriate sexual comments to many of the people in the victim’s area code. The victim did not find out this was happening until she was teased at school (Medina). In an 8th grade English class at Virgil Middle School, students made surveys and one of the questions asked, “How many people have been cyberbullied?” This question was answered through a survey. The research showed that out of 17 students, 4 students admitted to being cyber bullied. Another, one of the questions was, “Would you ever cyberbully, someone if you did not like them?” The second result showed that 5 students WOULD. Have you ever been cyberbullied? Methods: The research was conducted in a school’s computer lab and an 8th grade English class. The Secondary research resource was found through Google search. The primary research was found through a survey from simple questions. The primary research was used through a tally marked survey. The answers were Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. Then after, the data was inputted into graph using Microsoft Word. Conclusion & Recommendations: Most teens are being cyberbullied when they are not liked by others. Not many teens start the threats but someone has to start the beginning of one. The research shows that people have to make sure who their friends are to prevent from being cyberbullied. The following will to be for the parents to prevent teenagers to be cyberbullied. Do not let them talk to people who are unknown. Victims should talk to someone they trust if they experience cyberbullying and want to stop it. Please prevent cyberbullying.
