INTRODUCTION

Tonbridge School is suitable to accommodate a variety of residential options including Sports, Music, Theatrical or Academic courses based on site.

It is located in the heart of a thriving community offering excellent facilities. The site has a strong culture of traditional values & high performance across all aspects of the business, and is constantly looking to accommodate premium clients to utilize the facilities whilst supporting future elite performers within many fields.

Tonbridge Events has an established proven track record of providing residential facilities for both National & International clients including ;

Athletics Australia, England Hockey, Harlequins Rugby, the National

Youth Choir of Great Britain, the National Youth Music Theatre, the

National Youth Ballet.

Our facilities are suitable for both male & female guests from children aged 8 upwards to adult courses, if required, advice can be given regarding staff to student ratios & welfare assistance.

Hirers are responsible for every aspect of their activities during the hire period coordinating all course programmes & content, marketing, bookings, staffing, supervision, welfare and health & safety of guests at all times.

INTRODUCTION & LOCATION

Tonbridge School’s extensive 160 acre site is within in the heart of Kent, approximately an hour from International airports Gatwick, Heathrow &

Stansted. Tonbridge also has fast road and public transport rail links to

Ebsfleet, Central London & the port of Dover.

The School is situated centrally in Tonbridge approximately 1 mile from

Tonbridge railway station which is a pleasant walk through the high street, or a short taxi drive away with a regular taxi service running from the station throughout the day.

MUSIC FACILITIES

The Music Department offers a wide selection of locations for all types of musical events including residential music schools, recitals, examinations, recordings and practice areas.

The facilities include the Recital Room seating up to 120 guests, the smaller Octagon Room and up to 15 further classrooms and specialist practice rooms. As an all

Steinway school,

Tonbridge has a superb range of new pianos ranging from Essex and

Boston pianos in practice rooms to Steinway Grands in the performance locations.

If your residential course includes a concert or final performance, locations such as Big School or the Chapel of St Augustine can be reserved.

THE CHAPEL

A beautiful and creative venue recordings and concerts. The Chapel is home to a magnificent

Marcussen Organ, the second largest of its kind in the UK.

DRAMA FACILIITES

The EM Forster Theatre offers a flexible, professional space for a diverse range of artistic events including theatre, comedy, dance, and music productions.

The theatre seats up to 370 patrons split between the stalls and circle level. The stage measures over 8m by 7m and a complete lighting, projection and sound service is available.

Within the complex there is a studio theatre (seating up to

90) and a drama classroom.

The main foyer contains an integrated bar and the nearby mezzanine foyer can also be adapted for teaching, rehearsal or break-out areas.

CLASSROOM & MEETING FACILITIES

A selection of locations suitable for academic studies, meetings, lectures & briefings are available. These range from classrooms, & boardroom facilities, seating up to 25 people. All areas have high specification Audio

Visual equipment.

CAWTHORNE LECTURE THEATRE

This converted chapel is found in the centre of the school site and has been modernised with graduated seating for up to 120 guests and full AV facilities. It is therefore an ideal venue for conferences, presentations and film nights.

WI-FI ACCESS

Tonbridge School’s Wi-Fi network is available across the main school site including the Tonbridge Sport Centre. This is a free service to all guests, only requiring an email address to login.

SPORTS FACILITIES

TONBRIDGE SCHOOL CENTRE

Tonbridge School Centre has some of the best indoor and outdoor sports facilities in South East England. The venue is a landmark in national sporting provision and offers exceptional state-of-the art sports facilities.

Outdoor facilities include:

 Six lane athletics track, long/ triple/high jumps, shot put, discus, javelin, hammer and pole vault

 Three astro turfs for tennis,

hockey and football

 Grass sports areas

Indoor facilities include:

• Six lane 25m swimming pool

• Sports hall for badminton, basketball, football, cricket and volleyball

• Climbing wall

 Sports studio for dance, exercise activities and table tennis

 Physiotherapy room & Ice Bath

• Full changing room/shower facilities

• A café/bar

CATERING

Catering requirements for all guests can be provided by our onsite catering team within the Orchard Centre

Dining rooms which are centrally based within the main school.

All menus are produced on a daily basis by our own in house chefs, with dishes created from fresh ingredients sourced locally, within a

40 mile radius when possible. Menus are created with an emphasis on healthy eating & produced with dietary and nutritional requirements in mind.

Any special dietary requirements or allergies can be catered for individually if notified prior to arrival. A sample of the residential menu is on page 9.

The Dining room seats approximately 180 guests at any one time, and operate on a scheduled dining basis timed to work alongside your programme.

ACCOMODATION

Residential accommodation is available on site for up to 300 guests within our boarding houses. Accommodation is suitable for guests aged 8 onwards.

Each house is of individual character with between 45 – 60 beds, all having a selection of rooms including singles, twin & a few small dormitories.

All bathrooms and ablutions are shared within close location of the bedrooms, floor plans will be provided to assist with the suitable allocation of rooms.

If required houses can be segregated to accommodate male & female guests.

In addition to bedrooms each boarding house has further areas including refreshment rooms to make tea & coffee, TV/Cinema rooms, recreational games rooms with football tables, table tennis tables & areas to relax, drying rooms for kit and computer & printing facilities.

Bedrooms will be set up with bed linen (a mattress protector, fitted sheet, pillow & pillow protector, pillow case, duvet & duvet cover). The cleaning of the residential accommodation bedding and other resident’s requirements are maintained at an extremely high level.
