Construction Method Statement Operation: Construction of 3no Endurance E-3120 wind turbine bases Duration: 3 weeks Site: Carr Hall Home & Garden Centre, Whalley Road, Wilpshire, Ribble Valley, BB1 9LJ 1. Location of construction storage compounds An existing hard standing and secure area to the rear of the Garden Centre shall be used for lay down of all equipment and materials supplied to site. 2. Track construction and laying of cables The existing farm track from the Garden Centre to the turbine site shall be improved using inert materials to a standard suitable for use by construction traffic. All cables shall be laid in trenches, approximately 300m in width, underground or in ducts. All spoil from trenching shall be used to remake the trench. See attached plan for layout. 3. Excavation for and construction of turbines bases Foundations will be conducted by specialist sub-contractor firm experienced in the completion of wind turbine foundations. The turbine bases will require excavation to a depth of 1.5m. The excavated holes will be “blinded” using a lean mix concrete to provide a flat working surface. The re-enforcement bar and bolt cage will then be constructed on the blinding layer. Wooden shuttering will be placed around the outside of the foundation to prevent collapse of the foundation sides. Concrete will then be poured in to the foundations. 4. Soil storage and spreading Due to the short duration of the excavation/construction period there will be no requirement to store soil on site. Soil excavated from the foundations shall be used to landscape the area immediately surround the foundations such that only the upper part of the foundation is visible. Any remaining soil shall be used on site to fill existing ditches/follows. No soil will be removed from site. 1
