Scholarships & Awards UOIT acknowledges the accomplishments of many students admitted to the university through the presentation of awards of recognition for outstanding academic achievement. These awards are given to students entering directly from an Ontario secondary school. These scholarships are renewable based on academic performance. An application is not required. UOIT also offers scholarships that require students to complete an application. The Founder’s Scholarships, President’s Scholarships and Chancellor’s Scholarship are awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated leadership. These scholarships are renewable and are valued from $20,000 to $28,000. Applications for these scholarships are available at www.uoit.ca/scholarships/ and must be submitted by February 22, 2013. Please note: • Values are subject to change. • Awards of recognition and scholarships are only available to students applying to UOIT from secondary school within 18 months of graduation. • Summer school courses taken immediately prior to the start of the September term and upgrading marks are not included in grade calculation for awards. • The value of an award or scholarship will be deposited into the recipient’s tuition account over the course of the program, subject to successful renewal evaluation. • Students must not have previously attended a postsecondary institution. • Minimum 3.7 GPA is required for renewal. • Students may not hold more than one UOIT entrance scholarship or award simultaneously. Deferral Policy Applicants who are offered admission may apply to defer their application for one year. When an application is deferred, it is reassessed for admissibility on a competitive basis in the relevant admission period. Deferral requests must be submitted in writing to the Registrar’s office and must be received by September 15, 2013. Residence Accommodation UOIT guarantees first‑year students a place in residence provided that they accept UOIT’s offer of admission and apply to residence prior to the June 3, 2013, deadline. Residence offers three styles of suites for accommodation. Every suite has cable television, internet access, a work area and telephone. Modern on‑site laundry facilities and light housekeeping services are also available.
