PAC has a variety of information to share with you to be aware of the institute environment. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with this Student Handbook. It contains information about your rights and responsibilities as a PAC student. Additionally, it contains important information about resources and institute policies that will assist you as you navigate your institute experience. Read it and keep it as a reference. PAC enjoys leadership position in coaching Finance & Accounting courses and as a provider of Corporate & Professional Training. PAC has a history of around three decades which proudly presents its remarkable achievements of both the students and faculty members. Admission Management reserves the right to accept or reject any student at the time of admission. Formal procedure for admission in the institute includes filling of the Admission Form and payment of dues against an official receipt. Prescribed admission policies are followed by the institute II. Merit Scholarship and Fee Waivers Students who have excelled in their academic or professional examinations are honored with scholarships. Such scholarships are offered in the form of provisions of fully/partly free educational facilities for any subsequent papers, which such student will study in PAC. If a student achieves such excellence in the final module or last papers of the course, such student will be awarded with cash prize or electronic gadget. Any student who is good in studies but cannot afford to pay institute dues may also apply for some fee waiver. The management reserves the right to accept or reject such application. The amount of fee waived would also be a matter of absolute discretion of management. However, a onetime grant of fee waiver would not automatically entitle the student for a similar waiver in the subsequent courses/papers. III. Facilities Following facilities are available for the student on the campus: Library Computer Lab Cafeteria (Free serving of black/green tea) Photocopy Discussion room Parking High speed Wi-Fi 4 IV. Class rooms equipped with multimedia Projectors and LED/LCD screens Students' Assessments i. PAC holds regular class tests for effective learning. These class tests are conducted according to a pre-announced test schedule. ii. PAC has policy to conduct 4 regular class tests during the session, whereas a short quiz of 10 to 15 minutes is conducted at the completion of each chapter. iii. In addition to the class tests, Mid Mock Exam and Final Mock Exam are also conducted. Date-sheets for the Mock Examinations are communicated in advance to the students. V. Attendance and Results Students are expected to attend the classes regularly throughout the session. Every student is required to maintain at least 80% attendance. Where a student is found with lesser than 80 % attendance during a month, his/her parents or sponsor if any is notifies through an email or a phone call. The institute irrespective of the number of absences may also make phone calls to the parent/sponsor of an absent student. In case a student is continuously absent for three consecutive classes, without proper communication to the teacher and management, then a written warning shall be issued to the student. In case of continual of absentees, without Principal’s approval, such student’s name shall be struck off from the enrolled ACCA paper/course. In case of three consecutive failures in a class test, a written warning shall be issued to a student. If no improvement is observed after the stated action, such student shall be reserved from taking upcoming classes. 5 Class test Results are discussed with the students by the class teacher and special arrangements are made for the weak students. Whole process is monitored very closely by the Course Coordinators. VI. Students’ Complaints 1. Students will have direct access to the Course Coordinator, Director Academics and Principal so that they can be reached at any time for any issue. 2. Students would be made available with a complaint form available on front desk so they can communicate the issues well on time to the institute management. 3. Besides online facility, students would also be made available with Complaint Box facility inside the institute. Such Box shall be checked on regular basis to overcome the issues and needful actions will be taken at earliest possible time. 4. Students can also make complains regarding any matter in feedback form which is taken twice a session. 5. The complainant is encouraged to bring a problem directly to the attention of the person whose actions he/she has found to be objectionable. Such student may seek assistance and advice on how to secure solution of the problem from any administrator or faculty member of our training center. 6. If the problem cannot be resolved by informal discussion or if the student has chosen not to discuss the matter informally, the student should submit an application to the principal describing the complaint and the facts upon which it is based. 7. The student should submit his/her complaint within 3 days of the event/action upon which it is based. 8. If a complaint is in some manner associated with the conduct of a course, the complaint must be submitted within 1 day of the event/action upon which it is based. 9. The principal will appoint an investigator who, within the first week after the submission of the complaint will try to resolve the complaint informally. At the 6 complainant’s request, the investigator may agree to discuss informally the complaint with the person against whom complaint is lodged, without identifying the student making the complaint. However, further investigation will not be undertaken unless the student is ready to be identified. If the complaint has not been resolved within this two week period, the investigator will refer matter to the principal. The principal may take appropriate action to resolve the complaint (e.g., issue an oral or written warning to the accused party etc.). The principal may apply academically appropriate procedures whereby a student’s grade, class participation and attendance may be reviewed for better decisions against complaint. VII. Feed back PAC Dubai Campus has a system of obtaining formal feedback from the students through a questionnaire twice in a session. The feedback helps in monitoring the effectiveness and progress of the course and quality of instruction in the classes. VIII. Notice Board PAC Info Service (SMS and email service) PAC’s Official Website (www.pacdubai.com) PAC’s Facebook page Deserving and Needy Students Parents/Sponsors of deserving and needy Students would file an application to Director Academics for fee installments and/or 7 discounts; after interviewing the parents/sponsors and pondering into the application the student will be forwarded to Principal with recommendation for discount or fee installments. A maximum of two installments may be allowed either by the reception staff or the recovery officer (after Principal’s approval) with a maximum of one month’s gap. X. Registration Fee Registration fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable. XI. Rules of Fee submission Timing of Fee submission Full fee is required to be deposited at the time of admission. If a student leaves the coaching classes for current paper/s after declaration of the previous papers' result, the fee of that paper will be reserved for the next session. Application in this regard must be submitted to Director Academics within one week of the announcement of result. Transfer of Fee to a different paper within the current session Full tuition fee paid would be transferred if the student gets the application approved from the Director Academics within first week of the commencement of classes. Amount paid less 30% of the total tuition fee would be transferred if the student gets the application approved from the Director Academics within first month of the commencement of classes. No transfer would be allowed after one month of the class commencement date. Fee once transferred cannot be re-transferred or refunded 8 Refund Students can claim refund of their tuition fee as per following rules Lectures attended 6 to 10 25% deduction if full fee already paid 25 % fee to be paid if not already paid Lectures attended 11 to 19 50% deduction if full fee already paid 50% fee to be paid if not already paid Lectures attended 20 and above 100% deduction if full fee already paid 100% fee to be paid if not already paid Refund can only be claimed within one week of quitting the class The student will submit the application to the recovery officer who will get it approved from the principal. All refunds are usually processed within a week and a crossed cheque is handed over to the student. The cheque would be prepared in name of the students’ father or guardian as indicated in the admission form. Registration fee would not be refunded under any circumstances. Repeaters Those who have taken their regular classes from PAC Dubai Campus and rejoin the classes as repeaters will have to pay 50% of the tuition fee 9 XII. Disciplines Smoking Smoking is strictly prohibited on the institute premises. Violation of rule shall result in strict disciplinary action including expulsion from the institute Parking Students are required to park their vehicles only at the places reserved for them. All parking, whether inside the institute premises or outside, at the owner’s risk. Institute would not be liable for any loss caused due to theft of or damage to any vehicle. Mobile Phone Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited during the class. Students are also prohibited to leaving the classes for attending calls. Listening to music in institute corridors is also not allowed. Dress code Students are expected to be dressed decently. Even the casual dress should be appropriate for attending the institute. XIII. Expulsions / Cancellations: A student may be expelled from the institute, due to the following reasons: i. Failure to pay the fee on time against an official receipt despite the reminders; ii. Misbehaving with teacher in the class; iii. Causing damage to the institute's property or equipments; iv. To be involved in any kind of political or religious activities affecting the environment of the institute and fostering resentment or friction among the students’ and v. Indulgence in any act which is unbecoming of a student of this institute. 10 XIV. Facilitation Offices For the convenience of students, staff of PAC Facilitation Office would be available to guide them about time tables, availability of teachers and any other matter about which they require guidance.
