Call for Nominations for the Microbiology High Achievement Award Department of Bacteriology Purpose: To honor and advance the career of one of the department’s best undergraduate students. Criteria: High achievement in the student's academic program(s). Eligibility: UW-Madison Microbiology majors graduating in May, August, or December 2012. Award: A cash award of $500. The recipient will also receive a certificate and his/her name will be inscribed on a plaque displayed in the Department of Bacteriology. Application procedure Faculty, staff, advisors, laboratory personnel or students themselves may initiate the nomination. Nominations should include the following: 1) Two letters of recommendation, one of which is to serve as the letter of nomination, that address the reasons why the student would be a good candidate for the award. The Microbiology High Achievement Award Fund was created out of gratitude felt by the extended Hinsdill family, five members of which received one or more degrees from the University of Wisconsin System, including Emeritus Professor Ronald D. Hinsdill. Dr. Hinsdill is the former Chair of the Department of Bacteriology, former Director of Environmental Toxicology and Emeritus Professor of Preventive Medicine.
