Inequality & Methods Workshop — Rachelle Hill from the MnRDC will present "An
Introduction to the MnRDC" on Friday, September 25, 12:15-1:30 pm in the MPC
Seminar Room, 50 Willey Hall. The MnRDC is an on-campus facility where researchers
with approved projects can use non-public data sets from federal agencies like the
Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Such data sets may include finer
geography, additional restricted variables, or other details that are not available in the
public use versions. (Organized by the Minnesota Population Center)

Basel Validations Analyst — At U.S. Bank, we have a job opening for a Basel
Validations Analyst position in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The primary function is
to critically evaluate statistical models used for capital estimation, including model
design and performance testing. Findings must be effectively communicated to
management. Qualified candidates should have a Master's Degree or PhD in a
quantitative field such as statistics, economics, or mathematics. Key skills include
critical thinking, knowledge of statistical modeling, SAS programming, written &

Assistant Professor — The Department of Geography at Oklahoma State University,
Stillwater, invites applications for a tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning
August 2016. The department is searching for an outstanding scholar and teacher with
a focus in Sustainability or Coupled Human-Natural Systems using Quantitative
Methods/Modeling, Geographic Information Systems, and/or Remote Sensing.
Specialties in energy, agriculture, water resources, or climate variability are preferred.
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and to
secure external funding would be an advantage. The successful candidate will teach
courses that involve geospatial technologies and will be expected to develop an
excellent instruction program and a research agenda that supports these
specializations and the outreach/land grant mission of the university. This position
offers an attractive start-up package and supports a National Science Foundation
EPSCoR grant by providing applied research and educational programs that integrate
geography, sociology, agricultural, environmental-resource economics, and ecology in
a team environment that includes collaborators at the University of Oklahoma, the
Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, and the University of Tulsa. A PhD in Geography or
related discipline at the time of appointment is expected.
OSU Geography is a doctoral-granting department housed in the College of Arts and
Sciences. The department currently has 17 faculty members and approximately 45
undergraduate majors and 40 graduate students. OSU is a Land Grant University with
a resident student population of approximately 23,000. Stillwater is an attractive
community of 50,000 equidistant from Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Further information
