Designed with Portland’s vibrant creative community in mind, this 30,000
square foot commercial building is currently undergoing a complete remodel
to offer outstanding opportunities for restaurants, coffee and gourmet food
shops, unique retailers, artisans and design firms.
Where a book binding shop once stood, The Bindery is an old, and until recently,
forgotten building on a stretch of Sandy Boulevard long known for car dealerships and drive-thru restaurants. Today, this area, surrounded by established
neighborhoods like Laurelhurst, Irvington and Hollywood, is about to be transformed into a thriving urban destination.
At The Bindery we envision a highly curated, eclectic community of proprietors,
entrepreneurs, artisans, winemakers and creatives of all sorts “bound” together
by their passion for excellence and their love of sharing of what they do.
Our extensive remodel will have taken over a year to fully complete as we
sandblast to reveal the original wood beams, painstakingly remove layers of
linoleum tiles to expose fir floors, create an atrium with generous skylights
and open up the ground-floor for wine tanks in our underground urban winery.
The Bindery proudly joins restaurant row on NE 28th, The Ocean — the latest
food pod concept — on NE Glisan & 24th, an eastside Voodoo Doughnuts and
many more who are helping to reinvent this neighborhood.
