We are pleased to present the
2008 Sensible Land Use Coalition
Membership Directory. In this
directory, you have access to
more than 600 professionals in
the land use and development
community. The directory
clearly reflects the diversity
of our membership that is
one of the hallmarks of the
organization. I hope that you will find it as valuable a
tool as I do.
The Sensible Land Use Coalition is starting 2008
with an updated image, a reorganized web site, which
includes a forum for members to discuss current issues,
and the institution of an e-newsletter. These changes
are intended to provide improved services and information to our membership. Something that hasn’t change
is our commitment to presenting timely topics
at an affordable price.
To assist the board in identifying topics that will interest
our members, SLUC will continue to use an on-line
survey as a follow-up to each program. The high number
of responses to this format has provided focused
feedback and ideas for future programs.
In an effort to meet member needs, we have worked
diligently with the Minnesota Department of Commerce
to ensure that we can offer continuing real estate
credits. In response to the institution of continuing
education credits for certified planners, we have
become a registered provider and are applying monthly
for program credit through the national planning
organization as well.
We hope that all of these efforts, plus the benefits of the
directory and monthly networking will keep you part of
this vibrant, local organization.

Here’s how SLUC audiences stay on top of what’s happening in the industry:
Minnesota GreenStar introduced the exciting new program of green building
standards and certification systems for new housing and remodeling projects,
as developed by The Green Institute and BATC. (October, 2007, 236 attendees)
Twin Cities Housing Outlook provided by Ryan Jones of MetroStudy gave
building industry leaders the information need to compete in today’s market.
(December 2007, 309 attendees)
Global Observations in Times of Economic Turmoil featuring Arthur Rolnick,
senior vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis,
provided the audience with valuable insight into the 2008 economy, the falling dollar and
its impact on the real estate industry, and a Twin Cities real estate development forecast
