民主时代 191 0 Issue #1 12 December 1910, Beijing Sun Yat Sen Puyi The leader of the Xinhai The last emperor of Revolution agains the Qing China. He did not help the Dynasty. Soon to be the citizens of China at all even president of the Republic of though they were starving China. and needed help. 民族,民权,民生 Nationalism, Democracy and People’s livelihood This revolution will be the biggest revolution China ever experienced. This revolution will reform China bringing prosperity, modernization and benefits to all Chinese people. We will change from Absolute Monarchy (Qing Dynasty) to democracy! THE KING IS NOT DOING ANYTHING… BUT THE FOREIGNERS ARE INVADING US EVERY SINGLE MOMENT…. WE ARE STARVING AND WE ARE POOR BUT WE SHALL FIGHT FOR LIBERTY No more foreign invasions No more starvation No more weak leader [1] O G T S U M I Y U P … R E D A E L K A E W E R O M NO For too long, we have lived under a horrible King. The Qing dynasty has shown no care for us, the Chinese population. They live in a luxurious palace while we suffer. Why are we letting the Qing dynasty make all the decisions while we can make the decision ourselves? The leader of China is one of the reasons why China is not developed and modernized. The Qing dynasty that ruled China since 1644 had made many poor decisions and we must stop this before it is too late. To solve this problem we must eliminate this threat and start a new regime. The regime where there will be no weak leader because the Chinese population will have a chance to choose their own leader. The population of China shall unite with me, Sun Yat Sen to reform China and make it a better place. The current King, Puyi, is not even supposed to be King. He was not destined to be King, he is too young to do anything or make good decisions. Moreover, this decline of the Qing dynasty dates back to the time of Dowager empress Cixi empress Cixi who ruled China from 1862 until 1908. She was a really bad leader because she was greedy for power and will do anything to cease it. She stopped many rebellion that might have benefited China. She declared many wars on the western world because of Opium and the persuasion of the Boxers instead of finding another solution such as stopping the rebellion. As a result of this China lost many things including big trading ports, cities and massive amount of money (read below for more information). Her reigned ended in 1908 which is when Puyi became King. During his coronation, his dad carried him to the ceremony. He ruled China since he was 3 years old and had no real power at all. He was just there as a figure and symbol. He is now 5 years old and we shall overthrow him. The King is now very vulnerable because he has very few private soldier, he is no longer wealthy and have very few high class supporters. If we are able to overthrow the King then we will then be a democratic and a more developed country. In this new country, we will get to choose our own leader. The leader will reform the army to make it stronger and more modernized, make the education system better and will take care of the starvation of the people. In conclusion, the leader will help and solve problems of the Chinese population. We won’t kill the king but we will just exile and abdicate his power. ROYAL FAMILY The top picture is a picture of Puyi and the bottom picture is a picture of Empress Cixi. The luxurious palace (The forbidden city) Opium war [2] N O I S A V N I N G I E R O F NO MORE Foriegn influence There are many countries who are taKing land from us including : 1. British 2. French 3. German 4. Japanese 5. Russia We are giving free land to the foreigners every minute. If we don’t do anything now, there won’t be a China for the next generation of Chinese people! Why are we giving free land if we can protect it? TOGETHER, WE FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE OF CHINA The Chinese Empire has been invaded by foreigners, Western countries and the Japanese. However, our ruler is not taking actions and just giving aways free land. As you can see in the map above, many parts of China have been influenced and colonized. Many of our main trading ports have been taken from us. If we want our land to still be our land in the future, then we must fight for our nation (nationalism). My name is Sun Yat Sen and you shall join forces with me for the future of China! Because of the opium wars and many mistakes from the Qingdynasty the foreigners have gained power in China. Moreover, because of their advanced technology, they are able to force us to do anything. Because of the British, Chinese people were introduced to opium. Soon after 12 million people were addicted to it. The British wanted to make China weak. These foreigners, especially the British are bad people. Now, in 1910, the foreigners want to separate China into small parts and bring us down. However, fortunately our longtime trade partner, the Americans, are still helping us. There was once a big rebellion, the Taiping, where Xiuquan wanted to create a land where everyone is happy but it failed. The boxers also have tried rebelling but also failed because the foreigners and the qing-dynasty destroyed them, but we will not FAIL. Now is our chance to complete this dream. We will build and be the biggest group of rebel China every had. Join forces and we can do anything. Everyone, poor, rich, worker, peasant, nobles hates the special privileges grated to these foreigners. Why are they being treated better? This is our land, we should be equal, in fact, treated better than them. We don’t want Christianly or western thinking in our culture. We want to be modern in our own way. You should join us to reform China into a modern country. Foreigners will have no rights over us and they will no longer control China. Before the foreigners came in we were self sufficient and didn’t need any help from the foreigners at all, in fact, we were making profit. We will go back to those times and China will be free!!! [3] NO MORE STARVING AND ECONOMIC STRENGTH FOOD FOR ALL Why are we poor and starving while we can be rich and full? Even though we have a rapid growth of population, I believe that China is a selfsustainable country and will provide enough food for every individual. Joins hand and make people’s life better! Currently many people in China are starving from poverty and the king and nobles are not doing anything. We have a lot of people in our country and I believe that here are talented and smart people amongst Chinese people. However, we are not working together and we are wasting these talent. If we work together China will be much stronger and more developed. If you join us to revolt against the corrupted Qing-dynasty and the high class people in China, we can overthrow them and every one can have food. If we get to rule China, everyone in the country; poor or rich will receive basic food such as tofu, soy milk, etc. I believe that China is a self sufficient country that is certainly able to provide these basic foods. When we get to rule, we will make new rules that will benefit China greatly. One of the most important thing is that we will carefully plan for China to have a strong economic. Meaning that we won’t waste money in random things like the King or high class nobles. In conclusion, China will have be more secure and have a stronger economy because there will be no more CORRUPTION within the government. Moreover, there will be no interference towards China’s economic from other countries. We will lessen the trade with foreign countries. We will only make profit from them and will not let them take a single Yuan from us. We will restore the damage which was caused from opium (one-fifth of the money circulating in China) by making strict rules about trading opium and gradually get rid of opium. Money HELP US AND YOU WILL GET TO LIVE HAPPILY… [4] MANIFESTO A declaration of our aims This manifesto is a declaration of the Republic of China.
