What is Original Sin?
The sin which is handed down to us from Adam
and Eve, our first parents.

The greatest bad effect is the loss of
Sanctifying Grace.
The other effects of original sin include:
Darkened intellect, weak will, physical suffering,
and loss of heaven.

Any willful thought, desire, word, action, or
omission forbidden by the law of God.
2 Kinds: mortal and venial

Sanctifying Grace
The grace which is the life of God in our souls.
We need this type of grace to enter heaven.

An actual sin is serious when the sinner:
1. Has full knowledge of sinfulness.
2. Consents/(chooses) fully to the act.
3. The act concerns a serious matter.

Venial Sin
An actual sin which hurts our relationship with
God but does not destroy Sanctifying Grace in our
souls.

Actual Grace
Temporary graces which help us perform good
acts.
(We should pray for more of this type of grace.)
