The sin which is handed down to us from Adam and Eve, our first parents. Week 4 What are the bad effects of original sin? The greatest bad effect is the loss of Sanctifying Grace. The other effects of original sin include: Darkened intellect, weak will, physical suffering, and loss of heaven. Week 4 Sins we commit ourselves. Actual Sin Any willful thought, desire, word, action, or omission forbidden by the law of God. 2 Kinds: mortal and venial Week 5 Sanctifying Grace The grace which is the life of God in our souls. We need this type of grace to enter heaven. Week 5 Who were Cain and Abel? Adam and Eve’s sons. Week 5 Cain Adam and Eve’s evil son who offered God his second best and then killed Abel out of jealousy. Week 5 Abel Adam and Eve’s good son who offered God the finest lamb from his flock. He was killed by his jealous brother, Cain. Week 5 Omission Something what we fail to do or leave out. Week 5 A serious sin which destroys the life of God, (Sanctifying Grace), in one’s soul. Mortal Sin An actual sin is serious when the sinner: 1. Has full knowledge of sinfulness. 2. Consents/(chooses) fully to the act. 3. The act concerns a serious matter. Week 5 Venial Sin An actual sin which hurts our relationship with God but does not destroy Sanctifying Grace in our souls. Week 5 Actual Grace Temporary graces which help us perform good acts. (We should pray for more of this type of grace.) Week 6 The man who God chose to lead his people out of slavery in Egypt. He was also the one to receive the 10 commandments. Moses Week 6 Sunday The day which God asks us to set aside for Him. On this day we must attend Mass. Also, we should avoid all unnecessary servile work. Week 7 Covet To want something very much which belongs to someone else. Week 8 The First Commandment I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have strange gods before Me. Week 10 The Second Commandment Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Week 10 Remember, keep holy the Lord’s Day. The Third Commandment Week 10 Honour thy father and thy mother.
