Ensure that any additional monitors or PC’s operating off the Administrators’ Computer network are turned on and operating according to the technical specifications. Closing: At the end of the day, ensure that all Mac Minis connected to the Administrators’ Computer via the network are powered down. Check to make sure that any additional monitors or PC’s operating off the Administrators’ Computer network are turned off and powered down properly. DIAMONDS – Technical Manual Page 36 DIAMONDS Appendix C: Exhibit Mac mini Troubleshooting Using the Administrator’s Computer to Observe Exhibit Mac minis When you Observe exhibit computers, you see what is on the monitor in real time. To Observe one or more exhibit Mac minis: • Open the Remote Desktop application • Select the desired exhibit Mac minis from the list • Click ‘Observe’ at the top left of the window Below is a screenshot of 16 computers being observed simultaneously: Using the Administrator’s Computer to Control Exhibit Mac minis You can also take control of a computer by selecting it from the list and clicking on the ‘Control’ button at the top left of the window. When you are in control of an exhibit Mac mini, your mouse and keyboard function as the mouse and keyboard of the exhibit Mac mini. To Control one or more exhibit Mac minis: • Open the Remote Desktop application DIAMONDS – Technical Manual Page 37 DIAMONDS • • Select the desired exhibit Mac minis from the list Click ‘Control’ at the top left of the window Rebooting an Unresponsive Exhibit Mac mini Rarely, a computer may freeze and become unresponsive and it will become necessary to reboot the computer manually. This can only be done by physically interacting with the unresponsive computer.
