Maple Hill High School Students of the Month for March 2013 In an effort to recognize outstanding achievements of our students, Maple Hill High School presents each month a Student of the Month Award. Students may be nominated for this award by any staff member, a representative of a community organization, a parent or another student. Students may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, for service to the school or community or for significant improvement in school. Each month one student in each grade, 912, is selected for this award by a faculty committee after a review of all nominations. For the month of March, 2013, the students selected to receive this recognition are: Freshman – Garrett Renslow Sophomore – Nathaniel Coleda Junior – Chelsea Decker Senior – Emily Chittenden Garrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Renslow, is nominated for being a self-motivated learner and strives to challenge himself academically. He is very respectful to his teachers and considerate to his peers. Garrett is involved with cross country, volleyball and baseball. In addition to sports Garrett is a member of the high school band. Outside of school he plays baseball for the Devil Cats, The Sorensco League, and with the coach from Frozen Ropes. Garrett plans to go to college after graduation. Nathaniel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Coleda, is nominated for being a student on the Principal’s List maintaining an average of 95 or above. He is respectful of others while following his own path and has quite a sense of humor. Nathaniel participates in band, chorus, Jazz Band, and Swing Choir. Outside of school he is in ESYO Wind Ensemble, ESYO Jazz Ensemble, South Colonie Friends of Music Dance Band, Guilderland Town Band, and Melodies of Christmas. Nathaniel plans to go to college to study music. Chelsea, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Decker, is nominated for being a hard worker and always tries her best. She can be counted on in class to participate insightfully and is a role model for other students. Chelsea participates in chorus and volleyball here at Maple Hill. Outside of school she enjoys time with friends and doing things together. After graduation next year Chelsea does plan to go to college. Emily, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Chittenden, is nominated for being an exceptionally hard worker and is very conscientious about her assignments. Here at Maple Hill she participates in NHS, The Buddy Program, Yearbook, and band. Outside of school she is involved with 4H and Dairy Showing. Emily plans on going to college to major in Psychology or Agricultural Business, and has narrowed her schools down to Cornell and The University of Vermont. The faculty and staff wish to congratulate these students on being selected March students of the month for their respective grades.
