Ellis Services: FAQ 1. What is Ellis? Ellis is a set of revolutionary service from Broadlook Technologies designed to expand your points of contact and company intelligence from up to date, relevant sources, bringing your information into the new world. The results; your team can pinpoint their targets, and accelerate the sales process. 2. How does Ellis work? Ellis gathers information from 1,000’s of real‐time Internet sources that are scored for accuracy and completeness. We call this an “Internet footprint”. Combining state of the art web scarping and aggregation technologies, Ellis takes traditional address correction and de‐duplication into the new world, delivering greater points of contact, updated from real‐time sources. 3. Why would I use Ellis? If you need quality leads, contact, and company intelligence to infuse life in your sales efforts, Ellis is for you. . 4. How does Ellis compare with traditional list correction services? Ellis uses the largest data source in the world, the Internet. These sources are updated constantly with up to date information. Traditional correction services use static information sources; they cannot expand the information you have. They tend to affect only pieces of the data such as the mailing address. It sounds like I’m buying a list ...am I? No. You are buying your list; the results are exclusive to you. With traditional lists, you are buying a list that anyone else can buy. 6. 7. What can I expect with Ellis Extreme Data Augmentation? If you have a database with 10,000 companies, each with one contact, Ellis can return an average of 2‐20 contacts per company. Results can vary depending on the dataset given, the average is 11 and the median is 7. 8. How do I get the information into my systems? Broadlook Technologies has experience with over 100 popular CRM’s, Contact Managers, and Applicant Tracking Systems. In many cases, we have direct export capabilities and partner relations with the companies that make your system of choice. 9. What is the “Internet footprint”? The footprint can include a companies website, Internet newsgroups, blogs, published whitepapers, SEC filings, Patents, search engine results...literally 1,000’s of Internet sources. 10. Where does the technology inside Ellis come from? The technology is based on Broadlook Technologies Profiler software, which Broadlook sells to sales, marketing and recruiting professionals. 11. How fast is Ellis? Can I see it in action? At the heart of Ellis is an ultra‐fast, accurate parsing technology. Using data scoring, Ellis gives you total control over data‐quality. You select the level of completeness and accuracy scoring that fits your business requirements. All contact information extracted by Ellis comes with the associated context from which the information was extracted. 10. What is data scoring? Data scoring is the concept that Broadlook pioneered. The basic concept is that contact information should be assigned a score based on three major scales and hundreds of minor scales. Major scales include. 1. Relevancy 2. Cross reference‐ability 3. Data completeness. Minor scales include: ‐Spheres of influence ‐ how many other high scoring people are clustered together ‐Page type ‐ was the person on a press release page or a corporate management page ‐Contextual analysis ‐ what is the context the name was found ‐Data age ‐ explicit, implicit and archive‐compared Example: If Ellis finds a Director of Sales for one of your target companies on (1) four different web sources, (2) it has complete info (name, title, email, phone), and (3) the dates on the pages where the information was extracted is less than 1 month old…that equates to a great score. However, if a name is found with a title, but it is out of context, that name would be listed, but would have a low score. 11. Can I just buy the Profiler software? Yes you can, however, Ellis is the Profiler on a mass scale. The services provided by Ellis can do in a day what it might take Profiler a year to do. Think about 1,000’s of servers scanning the Internet on your behalf, on‐demand. Where the Profiler can scan 25 ‐100 companies per day, at a page depth of 100, 500 or 1,000, Ellis can scan tens of 1,000’s of companies per day to a page depth of 10,000 or more. In addition, Ellis can be configured and modified to gather many different types of data, not just contacts. 12. Bottom‐line…the difference between Profiler and Ellis? Profiler is a product while Ellis is a set of services. Profiler is for individual usage; Ellis supports enterprises on a mass scale, including extreme data correction and augmentation. 13. 14. Can I sell or distribute the information returned by Ellis? There are 2 types of Ellis service agreements. The standard service agreement allows you to use the data returned by Ellis for Internal use only; it cannot be resold or distributed outside your company.
