Put a drop of water in the center of your slide. GENTLY scrape the inside of your cheek with the tongue depressor. Smear the water with the tongue depressor to transfer the cells onto the slide. Add a drop of stain to the slide Add a cover slip and observe the slide under both low and high power. Draw the cells under low and high power. Label the following structures: cell membrane, nucleus and cytoplasm. Estimating the size of the onion cell. 1. Use the metric ruler to measure the size of view under low power. ___________mm
