Expectations for Creating an Open-Mind Portrait Objective: Create an open-mind portrait that demonstrates your understanding of the story The People Could Fly and viewpoint. Directions: 1. Your project must follow these directions and contain the following elements: a. Open-mind portrait must be about Toby’s character b. Portrait Page: Draw and color a portrait of the head and neck of Toby c. Mind Page: Draw and/or write AT LEAST 5 thoughts that Toby would have had throughout the story d. Cut out portrait and mind pages. Glue mind page onto piece of construction paper. Staple or tape portrait page on top of mind page. e. Write Toby’s name on construction paper f. Open-mind portrait is neat and organized; colorful and eye-catching g. On the back of open-mind portrait write your name (first and last) and Reading class period 2.
