§  2008 President Pu.n signed proposal to create FEFU §  Four universi.es merged together to create FEFU: Far Eastern Na.onal University, Far Eastern State Technical University, Pacific State University of Economics, and Ussuriisk State Pedagogical University §  In 2011 all academic subdivisions of these 4 schools merged -­‐ UMUC PARTNERSHIP

§  Discussions with Far Eastern Na.onal University began in 1990; MOU signed in 1991 §  Students Earn a B.S. in Management Studies from UMUC and a B.S. in Interna.onal Economics from FEFU §  Russian –American Faculty created at FENU §  Program now housed in School of Economics and Management at FEFU PROGRAM STRUCTURE
§  1991 – 1999 UMUC sent 5-­‐6 faculty yearly to teach Russian students. §  Structure: 2 + 2 + 1. First two years students take FEFU courses; years 3 &4 students take UMUC courses; year 5 students complete specialist degree §  2000 – transi.on year, 3 + 1 + 1. First two years stay the same; year 3 Russian faculty taught UMUC courses with UMUC syllabi §  2003 – new MOU, change to current structure – transfer agreement: UMUC accepts 90 credits of coursework from FEFU; students take 30 semester hours (credits) or 10 courses from UMUC §  Russian and U.S. students are in same online classroom. §  Specialist degree no longer offered. §  2012 – Curriculum revised to incorporate changes in Russian curriculum with 3rd Federal Standard and new UMUC curriculum INTRODUCTION OF MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM §  2012 Introduce Dual Degree M.S. in Management with Concentra.on in Project Management §  Students Complete Master’s in Strategic Management at FEFU and MSM with Concentra.on in Project Management at UMUC §  FEFU teaches all courses in management; UMUC teaches all courses in project management; credit transfer in two direc.ons §  Students graduate with two diplomas Our Graduates OOurO
§  Since 1995, 434 Russian students have graduated with UMUC B.S. §  Russian students graduate with important professional competencies: fluency in English, mastery of contemporary informa.on systems, and knowledge of interna.onal business prac.ces. §  U.S. employers see interna.onal educa.on as posi.vely contribu.ng to team-­‐building skills among employees. §  Dual degree program increases U.S. students knowledge of other cultures and global business. §  U.S. faculty also benefit from presence of Russian students in the classroom who provide important interna.onal perspec.ve about U.S. Economy. §  From the beginning graduates of the program have secured jobs with major interna.onal firms in Russia and other foreign countries and gone on to pursue Master’s or MBA degrees with the most pres.gious universi.es worldwide and in Russia.
